Dear users, dear authors,
is it true that handmade items are more sustainable?

I’d say it really depends on what kind of wool is used—whether it comes from happy sheep or not, and what else it’s made of. Cheap wool is usually produced in China under questionable conditions.

For me, something is also sustainable if it grows with the child. My grandchildren’s parents are always happy about that.

I’m looking forward to hearing more of your answers.

For me, handmade crafts are “sustainable” in two ways:
- made with your own hands, homemade
-  they bring joy to the heart, not only while working on them (making them), but also afterward; you can use them or display them, and you take pleasure in them
-  depending on the yarn or fabric, “natural” working material

I consider handmade items to be sustainable if they can be washed without any problems.
Also, if they can be adjusted in size—either through small or slightly larger alterations—or reused by unraveling them.
I’ve already completely unraveled and reworked various pieces.

Even hand-knitted socks are more likely to be mended than store-bought ones.
Which, in turn, is also sustainable.
