How do you celebrate Advent and Christmas?

How do you spend the holidays?

Hi Josefa,

No one has posted anything here yet. Maybe that’s because it’s harder to make plans this year due to COVID-19. No one can say what the situation will look like in 10 weeks. Will we be able to get together in large groups or travel to visit relatives? Everyone is keeping a low profile and waiting to see what happens. One thing is certain: Christmas is definitely coming, and we’ll celebrate it—but probably in a small group at our home.

I don’t even want to think about it yet. What will it be like? How will the situation unfold?

I’m hoping for a Christmas just like every other year. Everyone comes to our house, and we’re happy to see each other. My son-in-law cooks lots of delicious treats for us. We exchange a few gifts. We talk, play games, and laugh.

Yes, I’m hoping for that—and I’m doing everything I can to make it happen. 

My husband and I will once again be sitting comfortably at home by ourselves, with a few Christmas decorations, some cookies, enjoying a nice cup of coffee, and watching fairy tale movies.
Since no one can really travel, our children and parents won’t be able to come visit either.
It’ll be a day just like any other. It’s hard to feel that real Christmas spirit. Everything is different this year.
