Knit Stitch

what is a knit stitch and what do you use it for?

A knit stitch is a crochet pattern that looks like it’s knitted. It’s created when crocheting in rounds by inserting the hook into the “V” of the single crochet from the previous round instead of into the loops. In this pattern, the stitches lie exactly on top of each other. 

However, there is also an embroidery stitch that looks like knitting. This is suitable for embroidering knitted items so that the pattern looks as if it were knitted into the fabric. It’s also suitable for invisibly mending holes in knitted items. 

In Tunisian crochet, there is also a knit stitch. It differs from the basic Tunisian stitch in that, on the right side row, you insert the hook from front to back between the two vertical loops of the stitch and then pull the yarn through. The wrong side row is worked exactly the same way as with the basic stitch.
The stitch pattern looks like knitting, hence the name.
