I’m going to try knitting all the way around both leg openings using a ribbed pattern: 1 knit, 1 purl. No idea what will come of it. 😁

You mean like attaching sleeves to a sweater?
Maybe knit an extra piece and then sew it on.

Well, to be honest, I’d just do the unraveling and crochet it again from scratch.
Try searching online for a sewing pattern for pants. Print that out, and you’ll have a great template to follow for crocheting.

Yes, exactly—knit or crochet an extra piece and then sew it on. But I wouldn’t know where or how much to increase or decrease. I’m sure there aren’t any patterns for that yet.

Probably not. But as Petra wrote above, it would definitely be easiest to unravel it and start over from scratch.

Or you could try working onto it and keep laying it over a pair of shorts as a reference. Maybe with short rows?
