Yay, I'm new here

Welcome, and have fun!

Strange, I wrote more than that—where did it go? 
 I’ve been knitting for over 40 years.
Now I saw the mermaid blanket here and really like it, but unfortunately I’m not very good at crocheting. 
Is there also a knitting pattern for it that I can buy? That would be great—I’d love to knit the blanket for my grandchild.

Since these mermaid blankets are very popular right now, maybe an author will take the idea to heart and create a knitting pattern for one.

If you’re not very good at crocheting, you could always learn—for example, with our free crochet patterns. Many of them include a basic course.

a knitting pattern for it after all. I can crochet, but I simply much prefer

I'm much better at watching TV while knitting than while crocheting 
but I have already crocheted little curtains, doilies, blankets, and smaller tablecloths, just every now and then
