To be honest, I’m going through a bit of a rough patch mentally right now, because as long as there’s nothing against this virus, I’m keeping my distance from my family—and that means I miss them a lot. Since two of my daughters work in the restaurant industry and one works for a government agency, all three of them keep coming into contact with a lot of people. Here in Bavaria, there are still 48,778 cases, and about 711 in my county, so I’m being more than cautious. Thank goodness I have my crafts to keep me busy—otherwise, I think I’d be going a bit crazy ;-)
I just spotted a beautiful quilt in a recent craft magazine, so I’m going to buy the fabric and sew it; then I still have three pieces of jersey fabric lying around that need to be used up.

I’m in a “wait-and-see” phase. These are turbulent times right now. Tomorrow I have to go to the hospital for a pre-surgery consultation. I’m having another surgery on my hand. The doctors wanted to remove the metal plate—in the hope that the limited range of motion will be easier to treat afterward. So I’ll have physical and occupational therapy appointments coming up.

Then we also have a funeral next Friday. My mother-in-law. She passed away quite suddenly from a heart attack at almost 89 years old. A day later, my sister is celebrating her 60th birthday in my garden. It’s going to be quite an emotional rollercoaster. But none of these events can be postponed. We have to live through it all.

Warm regards, Ina

Aside from the “Corona blues” that seem to be everywhere, I’m doing fine.

I’ve gotten used to the fact that my husband has been working from home since March, and I actually find our coffee breaks together quite pleasant.
Will that ever change again? Who knows.

Ina, my condolences on the passing of your mother-in-law.
A sudden death like that is often hard to come to terms with, but when someone has to suffer for a long time, that’s also difficult to witness. I think it’s great that you and your sister celebrated life together right after that—there’s just nothing like spending time together.

I also wish you all the best for your hand.
