Summer Vacation 2020 Despite COVID-19?

Dear users, dear authors,
how are you handling your 2020 vacation?

We’re not going on a big trip this year—I wanted to, but under these circumstances, NO THANKS! We’ll go on day trips if we can, because it’s so beautiful here in Main-Franconia that, as we often say, we live where others go on vacation :-)

We’d normally be on vacation in Germany right now, and we’re a little sad about not being able to meet up with friends and family/kids or shop for local products. Or enjoy a real ice cream sundae at an ice cream parlor.

But… despite all that, we’ll make up for it all later.
If the weather cooperates, we’ll go on a little motorcycle ride here, or bike around with a picnic and stuff. After all, we live in a beautiful country where nature has so much to offer. It seems so clear and unspoiled. There are plenty of wonderful photo opportunities when it comes to the scenery.

Above all, we also have time to tidy up and “declutter” by sorting through paperwork and such. That has its good side, too.

We’re still hoping to head to the Allgäu to a vacation rental in mid-June. Hope springs eternal, after all.

We’re also heading to the Allgäu in mid-June to stay at a RV park. From there, we’ll be able to easily visit our children and grandchildren in Ravensburg. It’s already booked. :)

We’d booked a trip to Ireland for the spring… but couldn’t go. So we used that time to renovate our living room.

We were right in the middle of planning our summer vacation—it was supposed to be a road trip through Sweden and Finland.
Now we’re hoping we might be able to spend a week on the Dutch coast. At least dip our toes in the sea for a few days…

We’re also still a bit torn about whether to visit my in-laws. We haven’t seen them since Christmas because there are about 350 km between us. They’re always asking when we’ll finally come over for a weekend again. But the thought that we might bring the virus to them scares us—after all, no one can be sure they aren’t infected.

Any updates?

We booked a vacation rental in the Grisons mountains back in January and are now, of course, hoping that there won’t be another wave.

How are things going for you?
