Difference between a Bobbel and Gradient Yarn?

Dear users, dear designers,
what is the difference between Bobbel yarn cakes and gradient yarn, and what are these types of yarn used for?

Bobbel yarn = The color change is created by tying on yarn of a different color. If it is a 4-strand Bobbel yarn, after a certain length the fourth strand is replaced by a different color. Then the third, and so on.
So: 4 strands red, 3 strands red - 1 strand yellow, 2 strands red - 2 strands yellow, etc.

Gradient yarn = The yarn is dyed in a specific sequence with the corresponding colors. This is twisted (plied) yarn.

I like working with gradient yarn because, as described above, I only have one strand.

I really like shawls or scarves made with a Bobbel, but I always have to be so careful to make sure I’m catching all four strands while knitting or crocheting, which means I have to concentrate more on the individual stitches.

I really enjoy working with Bobbels. When crocheting, I have no trouble catching all the strands. It works great.
