Socks with Sandals: The New Trend

what do you think of socks with sandals? Do you want to jump on this new trend?

I think it looks awful. But if you have sensitive skin and are prone to pressure marks or blisters, you often have no other choice if you don’t want to wear closed-toe shoes or tights when it’s very hot. So it’s not always just a matter of fashion...

No, thanks—I never wear socks in the summer, only in the winter. Since I always have severe water retention in my legs but can’t tolerate compression stockings, I avoid anything that constricts them. Now it’s supposed to be a fashion trend, but I can still remember the mocking laughter when people used to ask: “How can you spot a German in Italy or Spain?” By the white socks in sandals and the undershirt over a potbelly. I hope that doesn’t become a trend too, because then I’d seriously doubt the sanity of the people who start such “trends.”

I can’t go without socks.
However, when it’s warm out, I almost exclusively wear Crocs because they’re the only shoes that don’t make the soles of my feet hurt after 5 minutes.

I have sensitive feet and can only wear comfortable shoes. In the summer, that means sandals. When it’s cooler, I also wear socks with them.

Socks with sandals? Nah, that’s not necessary. Do you mean white socks? That’s a total no-go.
But there are exceptions (for example, seniors in nursing homes who can’t fit into normal shoes and have comfortable sandals—in those cases, socks are appropriate, of course).

But with slippers in summer, I sometimes wear those sneaker socks because of blisters on my feet, since I sweat easily. I have black and white ones to match my shoes, so they don’t stand out.
In sandals, I generally go barefoot (I have nice comfortable, soft ones, so nothing pinches).

P.S.: I should mention that I wear closed-toe shoes both in summer and winter because I need a shoe lift and insoles. If I add socks to that, it gets a bit uncomfortable and way too hot in the summer.
