Elastic is the new toilet paper

I can't believe it. But you just can't find any elastic anywhere. That's crazy.
Or does anyone know where you can still find some?

As an alternative, you can cut old stretchy T-shirts into narrow strips (1.5–2 cm) and give the ends a good
tug. The stretch should be across the width.
If you want to sew masks, these strips will work just fine.

Oh man, that’s really something...
But then again, who’s surprised, with mask mandates now being introduced in more and more countries? There was a line outside the fabric store here yesterday that stretched forever....

Zpaghetti yarn—or, as the previous commenter wrote, strips from old T-shirts—works great. They’re much easier to sew on because you can pull them open flat, making it easier to sew over them with the machine, and the rest just rolls back into a round shape. 

I had some elastic delivered yesterday. I bought it from three different suppliers.

I ordered bias tape online. It took a little longer because it came from Switzerland.

I finally got lucky again at my wholesaler and managed to “snag” some 5mm elastic… (and even at the wholesaler, elastic is in short supply and, due to high demand, more expensive than usual)…
