Finding the Right Stitch for Faux Nappa Leather?

Hello, first of all,

I’m unsure about which stitch to choose for my project, where I’m making a long-sleeved shirt and pants out of faux nappa leather that’s made of 98% PVC and 2% polyurethane. For my first project, where I used suit fabric for pants,
I used a zigzag stitch everywhere because I was afraid something might tear.
Both fabrics have very similar, very low elasticity—about 1 cm—but this elasticity is ONLY parallel to the cut edge.
This means these fabrics wouldn’t be considered stretch fabrics.
Do you need a stretch stitch for fabrics like this, or is a straight stitch sufficient?

Years ago, I sewed myself a suit out of faux leather, and a simple straight stitch was enough for me. However, you shouldn’t subject this material to too much tension, because otherwise it might tear—and that’s it, since repairing it would be very difficult, if not impossible, and the result would always look very unsightly.
