Alpacas are still all the rage. Pamina is a particularly cute example. My granddaughter absolutely adores her! If you crochet her using the recommended teddy yarn (Phil Douce by Phildar), she’ll be about 25 cm tall—the perfect size for cuddling and snuggling.

Working with teddy yarn isn’t that difficult if you crochet while holding it together with a thin cotton yarn as a second strand. This makes it easier to see the stitches and also gives the animal a more stable shape.

You probably always have a few leftover yarn scraps at home. How about using the weekend to crochet some of them into something creative?

Bookmarks are always a good idea for that. They are quick and easy, and they turn any book gift into a truly personal present.

Here are two suggestions for all fairy-tale and fantasy lovers:

A versatile scarf and collar like this is perfect to knit over a weekend. Even beginners who’ve knitted before can manage it. The whole family will love it.

This cardigan with the matching hat will make any doll mum incredibly happy. The set fits dolls (or teddy bears) measuring approx. 45–50 cm and is also ideal for Baby Born dolls. It will also fit small newborns or premature babies.

Easy to knit, with raglan worked from the top.

There are also matching leggings that are very easy to knit.
The doll below is wearing the complete set.

Need a quick gift for a weekend invitation?

All sorts of odds and ends fit into this crocheted storage basket. Here we crochet around an empty tin can (a glass or plastic cup works too, as long as the sides are straight) in rounds using single crochet, double crochet, and half double crochet stitches.

Crocheted dishcloths are also very popular at the moment. I like to give these as gifts with a matching kitchen towel. But these cloths are also very handy in the kitchen as potholders or trivets.

If you want to delight several children with a little bunny at Easter, you should start crocheting early.

For this little bunny, two pieces are crocheted and then crocheted together with one round of single crochet stitches. Only the little stubby tail is sewn on at the end.

If you’ve suddenly found yourself in the mood for crafting, then this little basket is exactly the right project: You’re sure to have a large enough piece of photo cardstock at home, and that’s all you need for the basket.

You can use this basket both as decoration and as a small gift package. It measures approx. 10.5 x 12.5 cm and is very easy to make.
