We were all beginners once, and with every successfully completed project we get better. I’ve picked out three beginner projects for you that I would recommend to my best friend in a heartbeat as a first handicraft project.
Knitting pattern for a cowl
You can knit this in 3 sizes for the kids, yourself, your husband, or a friend. The color effect you see in the photo comes straight from the ball of yarn. But you can also use solid-colored yarn. You knit in the round with a size 4 circular knitting needle. And you don’t have to knit any purl stitches. You can also wear the cowl as a scarf (see last picture).

Knitting pattern for a cuddly baby blanket
This one is ideal for knitting beginners who want to knit a welcome gift for a baby for themselves or for parents-to-be. It is also the perfect gift for a 1st birthday. Thanks to the high-quality, very soft merino wool, it keeps you reliably warm without making you sweat underneath. Anyone covered or wrapped up in it will feel safe, cozy, and wonderfully warm. It can even be washed in the washing machine. You can make it in 2 sizes.
The pattern is ideal for knitting beginners, because we only knit knit and purl stitches—and I also explain and show everything in great detail. We knit with size 4 needles, so you can see the stitches well.
Crochet pattern for the “Kunterbunt” rug
This is also a lovely beginner project, this time for the crochet fans among you. Every rug turns out uniquely beautiful because everyone crochets with different colors. So you can combine your colors however you like. We only crochet chain stitches, half double crochets, and double crochets. Since we work with doubled yarn, we make quick progress too. With every round, the rug becomes more beautiful, larger, and more interesting. It’s a little addictive because you always want to crochet just one more round. The rug fits wonderfully in a child’s room. We make the back non-slip. In the pattern, I describe everything very precisely and step by step.
I wish you lots of joy and success with the project of your choice.
Warm regards from Ina
