Wrapped stitches

Dear users, dear authors,
what are wrapped stitches, and what are they used for?

You can use wrapped stitches to work short rows. I use wrapped stitches, for example, to shape a neckline. But I also really like to use this technique in shawls to create shapes or incorporate “splashes of color.”
When knitting sleeves, this technique is excellent for shaping the sleeve cap.
  They’re also great for knitting curves on sweaters and jackets. I’m a fan of short rows and use all kinds of techniques to work them: wrapped stitches, German short rows, Japanese short rows, shadow short rows... You can learn a lot about this, especially on YouTube.
