Fall Flowers—Which Ones?

Hi everyone,

I’d love to hear your thoughts:

If you wanted to plant a small balcony planter with fall flowers:

Which flowers would you choose? And in what colors (if these flowers come in different colors)?
Would you combine different flowers and/or colors? Or would you prefer just one type of flower, or several types, but plant the balcony planter in a single color?

the selection for fall isn’t quite as wide as it is for summer. We once had heather on our balcony. It survived the winter and is pretty hardy. Asters also look nice—they come in many different colors. A mix of yellow and orange would definitely look beautiful.

Of course, it’s all a matter of taste. For decisions like this, I always go to our local gardener. He has a wide selection, and I get advice there. I choose the colors based on my mood.

You’re sure to find something that’s right for you and get good advice if you stop by a larger nursery—or a farmers’ market.

I asked Mr. Google: “Fall-blooming plants for the balcony.” You can also find inspiration on the “Mein Schöner Garten” website. There are lots of beautiful pictures there, and the names of the plants are listed too. Personally, I like the small shrubs and grasses in the fall. The silvery plants are also very pretty.
