Which crochet stitch works well for cross-stitching?

I read somewhere that there’s a specific stitch that works well for cross-stitching.

Can you help me out with this?

yes, there is this so-called double stitch that you can embroider on.

insert into 1 stitch, yarn over, insert into 2nd stitch
yarn over again, and pull through all 3 loops.

Insert once more into the same stitch, yarn over, insert into the next stitch,
yarn over, and pull through all 3 loops, etc. repeat.

I'm not very good at explaining, but I hope you can manage with this somewhat.
Or google it.
There is also a book called "Criss Cross Crochet" by Elke Eder. Maybe that will help.

Hello Arni, as Andrea already said, the double stitch is very suitable for embroidering. Have a look in my shop - there are 2 free patterns where the double stitch is explained (cell phone pouch with heart and mug cozy). You’ll also find more patterns with the double stitch in my shop, where you can see what it looks like embroidered - Advent calendar, Christmas baubles, or various bags.
