Machine Embroidery // Embroidery Without an r // Appliqués?

Dear users, dear authors,
does anyone have experience with embroidery on a machine (without an r)?
You can make appliqués very well with it, could that be right?

Embroidering with an embroidery machine is a real treat, and you can make great appliqués with it.
The Christmas door hanging is a good example of how you can combine the two. I made this hanging at the request of one of my granddaughters—she definitely had a clear idea of where everything should go and what it should look like. :-)  The heart with the deer head, the deer with the curved antlers, and the boy with the sled are my own digitized designs; the appliqués are also mine, while the other patterns were downloaded as freebies from somewhere on the web.

But you can also embroider and do appliqué with a regular sewing machine. Embroidery takes a bit of practice and skill, and appliqué is similar—but both work quite well.

You can do that on an embroidery machine, too—I did it a few years ago, and my family practically snatched the pieces right out of my hands.
