Hi, I’m Renate.
I’m not exactly new here as a user, but I only recently discovered this forum.
I’m 48 years old and come from the Ruhr region. I love crocheting, knitting, embroidering, and doing crafts.
The patterns here are just amazing. A big thank you to all the authors! You always have such great ideas. I’m always totally thrilled.
Oh, and I work at a library and take care of city pigeons in my free time.

Hello, everyone!

It feels like I’ve been here at CP for an eternity.
For anyone who doesn’t “know” me, here’s a quick “Nina summary”:
I’m 40 now, with 4 kids—the oldest (turning 18 in August) just graduated from high school, the youngest (turning 3 in December) starts kindergarten at the end of August, the two in the middle are 10 (the only boy among our girls) and 4, 1 husband (*laughs*...one is enough ;) ), 1 pug, 1 cat, 8 chickens, (currently) 3 dwarf rabbits, 1 turtle, 3 budgies...
In “real life,” I’m an accountant; on the side, I “inherited”—that is, took over—my father-in-law’s translation and interpreting agency in April. I’ve also been running a small business in the crafts sector under the label ZwergnaseBär since 2011, and for some time now I’ve been writing patterns (mostly for crochet).

Well, that should suffice as a brief summary ;)

All the best—Yours, Nina

Hi Renate,
it’s great to have you here! And thanks for your kind words about the authors. :) I love this platform and its diversity, too.

Hi everyone,

I joined here in late 2016 because I was looking for a pattern myself. And I was pleasantly surprised by how lovingly and thoroughly the patterns here are written.

My granddaughter inspired me to create my own designs. So I immediately wrote the pattern for them as well—actually, at first just for myself, so I could make the design again later.

And that’s how I started posting my first patterns here in March 2017. I have to say, I’m amazed myself at how many there are now. At 65 years old, it’s the most wonderful hobby in the world for me, and (after more than 20 years away from it) I can’t even imagine life without crocheting and knitting anymore. A day without needles is a day wasted for me. ;-)

What I really love here is the sense of community and how helpful everyone is. That’s why I enjoy participating in the monthly project threads. It’s just fun and incredibly inspiring to talk shop together and show what we’ve just finished. It almost feels like we’ve known each other in person for a long time.

A warm welcome to all the newcomers, and best regards
Monika

Hello :)

I’ve been here since February 2017 and am the creative mind behind CreatOwl, a mother-daughter duo.

Since CreatOwl is about stories as well as knitting and crochet patterns, we decided on CreatOwl.
Owl, simply because we both love owls.

Besides the patterns, I proofread Lisa’s stories, which are still waiting to be published.
We also do research for them.

I’m approaching 57.
Crocheting and knitting have been hobbies of mine since I was 10 years old.

In the past, I worked from patterns and at some point got annoyed that I usually had to rewrite them.
The instructions were for people of average height. But not for short people like me.

Besides knitting, crocheting, proofreading, and researching, I enjoy being out in nature with my camera.

Hi,
I’ve been here for a long time and often buy patterns.
I’m not really the creative type—I prefer to recreate your great ideas.
So far, I’ve always gotten great patterns; only one crocheted children’s dress was very difficult to recreate, but with a little experience, it turned out really well.
I’d like to give you all a huge compliment, because I always find what I’m looking for here. I enjoy crocheting and sew things every now and then as well.
My main hobby, though, is thread art—I use it to make lots of cards and fulfill all the wishes of my friends and relatives. I also spend a lot of time with my animals: currently, I have 6 cats, 6 kittens, ducks, and chickens—about 60 of them across 18 different breeds.
Hansi wishes you all continued fun with your crafts.

Hi Hansi,
a warm welcome to our creative group, and thank you for your kind words about us authors. That kind of appreciation always feels good, because everyone puts a lot of love, creativity, and hard work into this—and, of course, joy too.

We’re so glad to get to know you here. Maybe you’d like to join our monthly challenges as well. You can find the current one here:
https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/forum/topic/108460/juli-projekte-motivierende-titel-gewinnen-eine-gute-zeit-mit-netten-leuten-verbringen

It’s really exciting to show each other our work, and it’s incredibly motivating.
Your string art would be something completely new, and I’m sure many people would be interested—including me. If you have a photo of it, feel free to share it here.

I’m sure you have a lot of work with your animals, but they give you so much love in return. That’s a very lovely responsibility to have.

I wish you and everyone here a wonderful day and lots of joy in whatever you’re doing right now.

Monika

Hi everyone
I’m from Switzerland, I’m a mountain farmer, which is why my name is "Bergli* 😋", and a mother of 8 children who are almost grown up (15–29 years old), and 2 grandchildren (2 and soon 3 years old)
"Normally" at this time of year I’m outside a lot making hay; unfortunately, I have tendonitis in my foot, so I’m "bound" to the house and have more time for handicrafts: sewing, embroidery, knitting, spinning
I also have a garden.... for my own vegetables and some herbs and flowers

It’s nice to learn a little more about you, Bergli. I think it’s great that you’re participating in the monthly threads with your wonderful crafts. Wow—8 kids(!)—you have my utmost admiration! I always wanted a big family when I was younger, but I didn’t have the right man for it back then. ;-)

It must be really wonderful and very special (to me) to be a farmer’s wife with so much nature around you. You must be incredibly busy around the clock. The main thing is that you enjoy it!

Hi,
I’m still new here as an author. This year, I took the plunge and registered a small business, which I now run part-time.
I’ve always loved crocheting off the cuff, which is also a very calming balance to my day job. Well, writing patterns is a learning curve and pretty exhausting, and I really tip my hat to the very successful authors.
But it’s fun. My toughest critics are my daughter and my boyfriend.
I love crocheting on the balcony best—even all bundled up in the winter.
I enjoy being outdoors in nature, and the North Sea is my true love.

Best regards, Kerstin

Hello, everyone!
I’ve actually been here for over 5 years now. It was more of a coincidence that I ended up here—I was searching for crochet patterns—and I was welcomed so warmly. I feel right at home here.
I look younger than I am, though I’m already approaching 57. I have two adult sons (ages 31 and 33), I’m married for the second time, and I have a lovely husband who also has his own hobby. We complement each other well. I moved to Norway eight years ago, and I live and work there. The scenery is gorgeous, but the winters are long and cold—still, it’s beautiful here, and it’s quiet with pleasant, crisp air.
I’ve had several jobs (secretary, healthcare and nursing assistant—I worked in several nursing homes, which I loved—and now I’m a hotel employee). I also once worked for a master carpenter as a temp and driver of a small van, delivering and picking up chair parts from the lumberyard; that was fun. The master carpenter was my landlord at the time; we were on a first-name basis. I’ve also planted trees (as part of a job creation program), and I worked as a “finisher” at the Bad Kösen stuffed animal factory. I picked up a lot by watching others, bought myself a sewing machine, and sewed a doll from a pattern. I usually had fun at work.

A warm welcome to the “newcomers” as well, and to everyone else. I’m just realizing how quiet my life is, compared to yours (lots of kids, lots of pets, a garden…). Hats off to you for still finding time for hobbies. Amazing.
I have several hobbies, like crocheting, diamond painting (painting by numbers with adhesive stones), embroidery—I used to make more cards (including those thread art cards, where you embroider cards with thin, colorful thread and beads). I also string bead figures from patterns and make my own bead jewelry.
My latest “relaxation activity” is doodling or Zentangle. There’s so much inspiration to be found online.
I’d also like to give a big shout-out to the sellers—you come up with such great ideas; it’s often hard to choose, but that’s part of the fun.
