Help with a crochet pattern

Hi,
I need help understanding this crochet pattern.

It’s about a standard increase.

Start with 6 sc in the starting ring. (Done 😊) Round 1: (2 sc in the next st) 6 times (12). (Also done)

Round 2: (1 sc, 2 sc in the next st) 6 times (18)
Round 3: (2 sc, 2 sc in the next st) 6 times (18) Round 4: (3 sc, 2 sc in the next st) 6 times (24)
etc.

What do the instructions in parentheses mean?
Do I just crochet 3 stitches into the next stitch in Round 2?
Or should I crochet a single crochet into the first stitch of Round 2 and the remaining 2 single crochets into the next stitch?
And how do I continue in this round? Always alternating between 1 stitch and then 2 stitches?

Do you know what I mean?

Your second guess is correct. In the second round, crochet 1 single crochet into the first stitch and two single crochets into the second stitch. Crochet one single crochet into the third stitch, two into the fourth, and so on.
“6x” means you repeat the section in parentheses six times, and “(18)” means you’ll have 18 stitches at the end of the second round.
