☞ Question of the Week: What do you make yourself, and what do you buy?

Today we’re talking about all things crafts: What do you make yourself, and what do you prefer to buy in stores or online? For example: Someone might always buy all their socks in stores, but always makes their own stuffed animals and decorations.
How about you?

I only buy underwear, tops, long-sleeve shirts, and pants. Everything else—like socks, other garments, and even jackets—I make myself.
In the summer, my clothes are made from cotton and cotton blends (including the socks); in the winter, they’re made from virgin wool, merino wool, or blends.

I don’t buy any cleaning products. I make my own laundry detergent (liquid), dish soap, etc. It costs me 4 euros a year. The main ingredient is pure curd soap.

Hi,
I do make a lot of things myself, but I can’t manage to do everything.

Clothing: I buy a lot in stores because I can’t crochet fast enough for four people to keep up with what’s needed :)

Stuffed animals: I make 90% of them myself

Winter socks: 100% made by me

Household cleaners: I make a few things myself here too - for example, cleaners for the bathroom and kitchen

they always smell deliciously of lemon or orange

Bags: I make about 90% of them myself

I buy my own clothes because I don’t really like knitting tops. But I skip the scarves, shawls, and hats in stores—I knit them all myself and, of course, wear them too—that’s the best advertisement, after all. ;-)

I knit scarves, shawls, arm warmers, and socks myself. I used to make knitted felt bags, too. That’s actually how I got back into knitting. Next year, I’d like to design summer sweaters, and this year I’d like to make a poncho.

Everything else I buy.

I knit sweaters, scarves, and skirts, as well as almost all my decorative items.

Making everything yourself does take a lot of time. You have to have that time—or make time for it.

I’m busy knitting and crocheting day in and day out; I also have a few tops that I wear myself, but most of it isn’t really for me…
I like to give away hand-knitted socks… but I rarely wear them myself.
Right now I’m knitting a poncho for my friend—but I like it so much that I’ll probably make one for myself afterward…. That is, if I don’t already have a whole new project on my needles by then...
And I still have plenty of UFOs, too...
So to answer the question: I usually buy my clothes “off the rack”
and prefer to make gifts myself by crocheting or knitting!

I make a lot of things myself and buy very little. I don’t throw away old clothes either—I use them to make new things. This summer top is made from an old baby onesie and leftover yarn ))
