Dear users, dear authors,
I was told in the other thread that people would like to discuss the topic of hairpin crochet in detail. What would you like to share, ask, or know about this?

I’ve liked fork crochet for a long time, and I’m especially fond of one really great sweater.
I’ve had the tool for it sitting in my closet for ages, but I still haven’t tried it out.

How big is this tool?

It’s about 10 cm wide and about 30 cm tall. It’s actually just two needles connected by the red parts.
There are holes in the red connecting piece, which allow you to adjust the width.

And how do you go about it?

Yes, now I realize I completely forgot the photos again,
from work to getting home, quite a bit gets lost in my head...

It's not very easy to explain in words, but roughly speaking:
You make a starting loop, then turn the whole fork once, which wraps the working yarn around one side of the fork. Now you crochet a single crochet (there are lots of patterns, I’ll just say single crochet for now), turn the fork further, another single crochet... etc.
All of this creates a strip of any length, with the single crochets in the middle and the loops on the right and left. Then several such strips can be placed next to each other and the loops crocheted together.
This gives you lots of possible uses, from scarves/cowls to entire tops. Basically, it then has a lace-like character. Airy, fluffy, depending on the material.

As I said, that’s just a rough explanation; it’s also hard to put into words without pictures.

I like it; I made a cowl from novelty yarn and fluffy roving yarn that I really love. With the fringed novelty yarn, I crocheted both strips together in the middle and then connected the edge loops with it again

Best, Caro

Caro is right—it’s not that easy to explain.
But luckily, I’ve kept an ancient needlework book from my mother; it’s from 1937!
Here’s my first attempt using single crochet stitches.
It’s not perfect yet, but practice makes perfect. I’ll get the hang of it eventually, and maybe then I’ll be able to make my own sweater, too.

It looks interesting, but also a bit cumbersome...

Caro, can you show us a picture of your cowl here?

Thanks for the info so far.
I’d also love to see pictures of finished projects. Please upload only your own photos here in this thread—thanks!
