Question about a pattern

Hi, I need some help. I bought a pattern for a stroller chain.
I started with a magic ring and 6 sc.
I doubled these to 12 stitches.
Then it says to work 3 sets of 2 sc in 1 st; then repeat 3 sc twice, for a total of 18 stitches. I understood that part, but now it says
for Round 4: 3 sets of (2 sc in 1 st, 1 sc), then repeat 3 sc twice to reach 24 stitches.
I’m completely confused by this—I hope someone can help me.

this is how I understand it: Round 4: you crochet 2 sc in one stitch, then 1 sc in the next stitch (repeat this 3 times), which gives you 9 stitches; then you crochet 3 sc (1 sc in each stitch) = 3 stitches

now you have 9 + 3 stitches = 12 stitches; repeat that twice to reach 24 stitches
