Finally, the weekend: Off to the sun :-)

Here, the sun is shining on and off; it rained yesterday. It’s a bit cooler than it’s been the last few days, but I think that’s just typical April weather.

This weekend I have to finish building my model train layout for my dad, come what may, because next week we’re celebrating his birthday. 70 years old—I can hardly believe my dad is that old—he actually still looks pretty youthful, and you wouldn’t guess his age at all. My mom will turn 70 in November; you wouldn’t guess her age either. Both of them are still happily pottering about in the garden and around the house, enjoying their retirement. I’m very grateful and happy that they’re both still doing so well.

Besides crafts, I’ve also got some house cleaning to do this week, but I’ll tackle that in between—alternating between crocheting and cleaning.

This has been my weekend project since Thursday—a little knitted teddy bear

I hope everyone here has a lovely Sunday too. One we'll still enjoy before the workweek starts again on Monday.

The sun is shining today, but it's quite windy, more than yesterday. Still, we'll go on a little bike ride. Later maybe sit outside on the terrace and crochet, drink cappuccino, and have homemade cheesecake with whipped cream.

@Sofis-Welt, my parents are just like yours in that respect. Mine are already 73 and 75, but still fit for their age, dress in a modern way, and look younger too. They gave up their garden, but they're still always on the go (walking, bowling, hiking, swimming, short trips...). That's great. It also motivates you to move a bit more, not just your fingers (crocheting). My grandma was even almost 91 when she died last year. She was still walking without a cane.

Otherwise, we'll let Sunday wind down nice and quietly, with a movie and pizza in the evening.

@Akela Your teddy bear looks great. Knitting isn’t really my thing. Straight pieces, yes, but you knitted this wonderfully. Respect!

We went for a little Sunday walk.

Along the way, we came across some butterflies, bees, and bumblebees.

We went on a bike ride, but it was windy and really cold on our ears. So we sat out in the sun by the Drammenfjord. We even spotted a starfish in the clear water. Seriously. We had to look twice, but it was definitely one. Maybe I’ll upload the picture sometime.
We had to move our coffee break indoors. All in all, it was a lovely Sunday.

We had a great weekend, too. Yesterday we bought a play structure with a swing and a slide for the garden, set it up right away, and gave it a try. Anton had a lot of fun. Today we went to a big wildlife park. That was fun, too.

On Saturday, we took a walk through a wildlife park near Zurich, together with our grandchildren, their parents, and our son from America. We didn’t see too many animals—it was probably the wrong time of day—and it was chilly, too! Yesterday at lunchtime, all three of our children (without their partners) were sitting at our table again for the first time in a long, long time—it was very cozy, and we had a long, leisurely chat. Unfortunately, we probably won’t have another opportunity like this for quite a while!
