I suspect that no matter how many you make, each one has its own character, because you can never make one exactly like the one before. And it’s something you’ve made yourself, which always goes over well with kids—at least that’s been my experience.

I think it’s because they usually follow the “baby schema” too—baby-like proportions and big eyes. Who can resist a baby animal when it looks at you like that? Not me :-)

Animals are perfect for cuddling because they’re soft and cuddly. And handmade animals are something truly special because they were made just for that child—whether little or big. A handmade animal is one-of-a-kind; there’s no other just like it. And the love for the recipient was crocheted (knitted, sewn...) right into it!
