Too much yarn—help!

Since I’m new here, a quick introduction:
I’m a 35-year-old woman from North Rhine-Westphalia. I’ve crocheted before, but only things like pot holders, etc.
I’ve found a pattern now, but I’m completely overwhelmed by the selection of yarn.
  If I use thin yarn, I’m supposed to use it double—that much is clear.
Do I need two skeins, or how do I do that?
Or if I use thick yarn, just one strand.

Which brand should I use?
What’s the best mohair yarn or teddy yarn?

First of all, welcome to crazypatterns and to our community. It’s great that you want to get back to crafting a bit more — I think we all love having inspired someone to take up handicrafts again.

I’m not familiar with crocheting teddy bears, but I can recommend getting in touch with the author of the pattern. She’ll surely be happy to help you choose the right yarn and knows best which yarn is recommended for this project.
