Unraveling a cake yarn: Is it easy? What about gradient yarn?

Dear users, dear authors,
Can handmade projects made with cake yarns / gradient yarn be unraveled easily and used again?
Let me know.

If it’s smooth yarn and you’ve worked neatly, it’s absolutely no problem. But if you’ve crocheted or knitted with only 3 of the 4 strands, you’ll run into trouble when unraveling. However, when unraveling, you also have to wind it back evenly onto the ball of yarn (I then wrap it around the outside of the yarn cake, even if I took the yarn from the inside), otherwise loops and knots will form. 

So if I ever have to unravel something, I cut the thread and wind the yarn evenly onto an empty toilet paper roll  :-) then it’s really easy to use again and to rejoin it to the Bobbel at the cut point with the Frankfurt knot
