I’m definitely looking forward to being part of it again. I’m sure there will be a colorful and beautiful collection of projects from everyone in this group.

I’m looking forward to it, too. My goals are:
at least 2 characters for the puppet show—probably Gretel and the crocodile. However, the crocodile will be improvised and made with leftover yarn from the stash.

And then an Easter doily. A third of it is already done. The pattern is addictive.

We’ll see if I end up making more.

My coat is carrying over into February, but I’m sure it’ll be finished by then. A new pattern is in the works, a few pairs of socks, and a few other things.

I’m going to start a jacket for my daughter—we’ll see when I finish it.
Then I’d like to crochet a few small items. A friend
needs some help with knitting socks, so I’m happy to help.

So, the first project, my Easter doily, is finished. I’m blocking it now, and then I’ll post a photo.

Now I’m starting on Gretel. :-)

Our winter finale kicked off again today. It’s a true winter wonderland. This is what it looked like this morning (and now it’s even more so):

I’ve also finished my first project for February. I started it in January, and here’s the second thermos cover—made from leftover yarn—ta-daaa:

Now I’ve got socks on my needles again. This time they’re for the baby, made from leftover sock yarn—so cute… those little feet. I’m knitting them now with the CraSyTrio bamboo needles. I think they work even better now. They feel really good in my hands.

I still haven’t decided what to knit for Linja’s 3rd birthday. Until I come up with something, I’ll just stick to socks for now. You can always use those. And then there’s the baby coming at the end of May… The baby will definitely need little booties—and quite a bit more.

I’m in the process of expanding my Easter egg pattern. This time, I’m making eggs in all sorts of shapes for the play store and the play kitchen, and I spent quite a bit of time today figuring out the right size. Hopefully, they’ll be ready for publication soon...

I’d like to crochet a train (locomotive with a carriage) for my dad for his 70th birthday in April. We’ll celebrate later, since my mom is also turning 70 this year. But for our little celebration, he’ll get this train, since he’s a big train fan. I also want to continue working on my summer skirt and knit a lace scarf. And I’d like to make some progress on the socks, too.

My sock is coming along: I’m at the heel now.
I have no idea what this heel is called, though.

The first February project is done—made from leftover yarn and almost a UFO, since I’d knitted a few rounds a while back and later unraveled them. Since the gloves were finished so quickly and I still have enough yarn left, I’m casting on the next pair right away today.

Compliments, Wollbaerli! :) Such beautiful colors! For me, doing that with my fingers is too fiddly—I don’t like that at all. That’s why I haven’t knitted anything like this yet. But you should never say never... ;-)

I finished my second project for February today. Here are the baby socks—made from leftover yarn:

You’re already hard at work again. It’s great to see what you’ve already finished.
I’ve unraveled my jacket for the second time. I should have measured it better!!

So I’ve started on Easter decorations for now. Then I’ll get back to the jacket—this time, it has to fit.

Oh dear, Marion, that’s a bummer. I’ve had that problem before, too—that it didn’t fit.

For some reason, I’m just not in the mood for bigger projects right now. I have quite a few scraps lying around that I’ll probably use to make new teddy bear clothes. That’s something I can whip up quickly. I already have an idea... ;-)

And then my sister-in-law gave me a request for Easter. She’d like an orange-yellow crocheted cover for her potted plant. As soon as I have the measurements, I’ll come up with something suitable.

But you've all made a very busy start to February. With my coat, I'm currently on row 100 of 156 for the back. Yay—the end is in sight! Then I “just” have to knit the hood and the pockets... I'm still waiting for my Crasy Trio in size 3—for some reason, the yarn shop's supplier always seems to deliver only 2–3 pieces out of the 10 ordered :(
But a girl has to be patient... I was tempted to start a crochet project today, but I talked myself out of it, since I still have some wrist warmers waiting in the queue that I'll tackle after the coat. Well, enough writing—time to get back to my needles!
I hope you all have a lovely evening!

Wow, Mel, you’ve already made a lot of progress on that coat. It’s definitely going to turn out great. I can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s finished.

Marion, your Easter decorations turned out so cute.

I started a raglan sweater for my teddy bear today. It’s going to be super cute. Made from diet yarn, of course. I have more than enough of that.

At the same time, I’m going to start crocheting something new tonight. An idea is taking shape… on the one hand, it’ll be decorative—it can be used for Easter and many other occasions. But it also has other practical uses… Just being decorative isn’t enough for me. It’ll be colorful… and fun….

Well, I won’t reveal any more than that for now. I figure I’ll have it finished in February, and then you’ll get to see it here.

I wish you all a wonderful evening!

Best, Monika

You’re all so hard at work. Those Easter hens are just adorable.

I’m still working on the birthday present for my grandson. He asked for a Yoshi. Everything’s crocheted—now I just have to sew it all together and weave in the ends.

And my scarf is still waiting for me to continue crocheting it. That yarn must have been sitting in a box for at least two years. I just didn’t have any ideas. But I think this pattern goes great with the colors. So now I’m working on a pattern. I hope winter is still here by the time the pattern is finished.

You’re all being so diligent with your work!!!!
I’ve been crocheting on my summer skirt again since yesterday—I picked up the rest of the yarn for it yesterday. At the same time, I’m alternating between knitting a lace scarf and starting a crocheted train tomorrow. Both my parents are turning 70 this year, and my dad is a huge train fan. I hope he’ll like the train. My mom is getting a horse carousel—both patterns are from CP. And for the big joint celebration this summer, they’ll both get a crocheted grandparent couple. I just hope I’ll finish everything in time.

Oh, wow, Sofi, you’ve really taken on quite a lot.

Petra, what’s a Yoshi? I’ve never heard of that before… and I’ll admit I’m clueless. ;-)
I’m curious to see what it’ll look like when it’s finished.

My little bear sweater is coming along. It’s being knitted from the top down with raglan sleeves and has a button placket on the side. The first fitting today looked pretty good already. And it would look great on my crocheted cuddly bear, too. I think I’ll knit a few different sizes of this for my various teddy bears. And while I’m at it, I’ll use up some leftover yarn.

Here’s how it looked at noon today:

Sofi: That sounds like a lot of work—good luck!

I’ve just finished my first February project. For a change, I didn’t crochet—I sewed. But I used fabric scraps

This is a spelt pillow. The cover has an envelope closure.
My husband has been stealing mine lately, so I have to use an ancient one. Since my mother-in-law was here for two hours today and kept Anton entertained, I had time to make this. Let’s see what he says

Monika, the teddy sweater is looking really good so far. I think it’s great that you’re able to use up some of your leftover yarn. Sandra, I find the spelt pillow really interesting.

Yes, I’ve set my sights on quite a few things. But now that my son is at university, my dog is in doggy heaven, I don’t have a new dog yet, and school is on break too, I have plenty of time for handicrafts. Aside from my little side job—aka my full-time job—housework, etc., etc...

Petra, I did a quick Google search because I didn’t know Yoshi either.
I found it—it looks adorable. I’m curious to see what yours looks like.
I’m sure you’ll show it here.

Monika, your bear sweater is turning out cute again.
Sandra, that pillow was quick to make—very practical.
CreatOwl, your scarf is turning out cute, too.
Sofie, I hope you have lots of fun with your great gifts. Glad to hear you’re feeling better already.

My jacket is slowly coming along. I started a headband today—I'm making it in Tunisian crochet. This is how far I’ve gotten so far.

Yeah. These pillows go together really fast. That’s the advantage of sewing, and they’re just straight seams. So it’s really simple.

My husband thinks the color is ugly, so he’ll probably keep mine. That’s fine too :-)

On the train on my way to a wonderful hike with blue skies, sunshine, and snow (back home we’re sitting under a pretty thick blanket of fog), I knitted the second glove up to the thumb, and tonight under the cozy blanket I’ll work on the thumb, little finger, and half of the ring finger.

Good morning everyone,
a Yoshi is a character from a computer game (Super Mario, I hope that’s right, PlayStation or something). My children were already playing that 20 years ago, and now those grown-up children are playing it again, and my grandson sits next to them, excitedly watching. Yoshi is Super Mario’s friend. Actually, he’s a mix between a dragon and a dinosaur. Just a few more stitches on the belly and the arms are still missing, then he’ll be finished. Before he goes into the gift wrapping, I’ll take pictures and show him.

@wollbaerli: the winter landscape looks absolutely dreamy. Here in Swabia, we have nothing at all. But we do have sunshine.

I have more than enough UFOs. I can’t get on top of the situation. Not even a thread from Josefa like with Mowi19 would help.

Wishing you all a lovely Thursday

My goodness, it’s like a factory in here :D You’re churning out one great piece after another.
By the way, Yoshi/Mario is from Nintendo—just in case any die-hard fans start crying out in outrage ;)

Here’s my “creative” burst that I had during my coat break. The hippos measure just 7 cm from toe to ear.

Wollbaerli, I’m sure you had a wonderful day! I also love being in the mountains, though I prefer warmer weather.

Thanks, Petra, for the explanation. You never stop learning. ;-)

Mel, your hippos are a hit. They’re sooo cute!

Marion, congratulations on your latest finished project—the headband.

Here’s what the little bear sweater looks like now. Tonight I’ll work on the second sleeve, and then I’ll start on the smaller version for the little brother. :) That’ll be a “Schlüttli.”

I’ve now finished the prototype for my new crochet idea. I want to crochet another version of it now. You’ll get to see the whole gang later, once they’re finished. It’s already looking really fun, though.

Have a wonderful evening, everyone!

Best wishes
Monika

Good morning,
I finished my little Yoshi yesterday. (My photo)

I proudly showed him to the family on Facebook yesterday (the birthday child doesn’t have their own cell phone yet, so things like that are still possible), and I’ve already received another order from my godchild (28 years old).

@Wollefaden: Tunisian crochet is also still on my “things I want to learn” list. Your headband turned out great with the cable detail.

@Nadeleule: Your little hippos are cute. And so tiny. I think I’d probably despair over such tiny little arms.

It’s nice to see how the projects are growing here and the individual progress. Exciting every day.

Your Yoshi really turned out absolutely wonderful. No wonder you’ve already gotten another order—he is so cute.

Once you’ve tried Tunisian crochet, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it too. I only learned it last year myself, and I’m totally excited about it.

Mel, your little hippos are really cute, even if they’re fiddly to make.

Thank you very much.
I crocheted with a size 2 hook, and the white yarn is Manuela 10 by Schöpfer & Stahl; the pink was a leftover, so I don’t remember who it’s from. But the quality is similar.

Petra, your Yoshi turned out absolutely enchanting. Beautiful!

Sandra, your Easter doily turned out beautifully. I really admire the patience it takes to crochet with such tiny hooks—even though I did that myself many, many years ago. Now it would be too fiddly for me.

Mel, I also admire your patience in crocheting these tiny hippos. That would be too fiddly for me.

I’ve now finished the first bear sweater—here are the photos without and with my favorite bear.
Now I’m starting on the smaller version.

I’ll show you my crocheted creations over the next few days. I’m really taken with my new idea myself and already have a name for it—the “Scrap-Eater Gnome.” You’ll be curious to see what they look like. Two of them are finished. A third is still to come.

Thanks, Sandra and Petra! :)

The smaller sweater is going to be a “Schlüttli.” It’s the first thing I’ve ever knitted. The button placket makes it super easy to put on and take off. I also want to knit a Schlüttli like this for our baby, who’s due in May. So I’m practicing the designs on the teddy bear clothes for now.

The “scrap-eating” gnomes are really funny and have so many functions. I’m only realizing that now that they’re finished. And they really spark creativity. It’s so much fun to crochet them. I’m really enjoying how quickly these little projects come together right now.

Have a lovely evening, everyone, and happy crafting! :)

Best, Monika

No, it's a pattern from here. It was a combined pattern for 10 puppet characters. However, I had to change quite a bit. The pattern is for children's hands.

The next figure will be a crocodile I designed myself. That was missing from the pattern.
And after that, I'll continue with the next figures.

Arni, a “Schlüttli” is a baby jacket. In 7th grade, we learned to knit the following style: starting at the center back, then the first sleeve, the front, the second sleeve, and the second half of the back—all with short rows for the yoke, knitted in garter stitch. I’m sure there are other variations, though. Now I’m excited to see mowi’s version!

Sandra, your Gretel turned out great! You really did a fantastic job on it. :)

Yes, a “Schlüttli” is kind of like a little jacket, but it looks like a sweater. It’s similar to the sweater with the button placket. With a Schlüttli, though, the button placket extends all the way down to the bottom. For babies, the advantage is that nothing has to be pulled over their heads.

The hardest part about a sweater or Schlüttli with a button placket (for me) is figuring out the number of stitches and then writing it down in a way that everyone can understand. I’m working on that right now.

If I can get it right for a little bear, I’ll try making a baby version. It’ll be knitted again using a creative knit-purl pattern. That usually comes together as I knit.

That sock looks interesting.

Since we’re having guests over tomorrow, I won’t be able to do much knitting or crocheting. We had spring-like temperatures today, and that put me in the mood to tidy up. So no knitting or crocheting so far.

On Monday, I’ll continue with the third “scrap-eater” gnome. I want to finish that one then. I’m already looking forward to showing all three to you.

Wollbaerli, does it button up in the back or the front?
I’d call it a little jacket.

I first came across the term “Schlüttli” when it was buttoned on the side—that is, with the side placket extended all the way to the bottom. I’ve already seen a few here on CP, too. Just type the term in, and you’ll know what I mean.

Yes, you can also use them as bag charms. They’re simply little pendants for decoration—for example, on a bouquet. I bought the pattern here and then modified it into a C!own.
But I’ll definitely be making the originals as well.

Oh, you’ve created some amazing things! :)

Sandra, I think your crocodile turned out absolutely fantastic. You can perform a dance with the big crocodile later and entertain Anton with it.

Marion, your figures are so cute. They turned out great, too, and are perfect for using up leftover yarn.

I didn’t get anything done this weekend—unfortunately. Last night I barely managed to knit a tiny bit of the new bear sweater. Tomorrow I’ll continue on the third “scrap-eater.” Maybe it’ll be finished—I can’t say yet.

I really admire everyone who manages to crochet little animals and other figures—or come up with the patterns for them.

I started my scarf over from scratch because something wasn’t quite right.
While I was at it, I made the left and right edges a little wider.
It had been curling up too much.

You’ve all made such great things again—it really makes me want to pick up my needle. But I can’t quite do that yet. I came home from the hospital today—after going to the emergency room last Sunday with stomach pain, they wouldn’t let me go home. My arms are now covered in needle marks, and I left my gallbladder there; I need a few days of rest now.

A hospital like that is really a place to drive you to despair—everything was totally chaotic and uncoordinated. In that short time, I was moved to three different wards, barely spoke to a doctor, and sometimes even had to ask for my medication myself, since otherwise they would have forgotten to give it to me. I never would have thought something like that was possible in Germany.

This afternoon, I was lying comfortably here on the sofa, letting my husband pamper me, enjoying the peace and quiet, and sleeping a lot. It’s great to be home.

Claudia, I also hope you get well again very soon. Let your husband spoil you. The joy of crafting will catch up with you before you know it. That’s sure to help you recover.

I’m now at the point with my “scrap-eater” gang where the third one just needs feet. I’ll crochet and sew those on today. All three look completely different and pretty funny. I’m going to give one of them to Linja for Easter—she’ll find it in her Easter basket.

The other two have already taken on a role. One of them holds tiny bits of leftover yarn, and the other holds knitting and crochet needles.

They have an incredible number of uses. For example, for birthday or Carnival parties. They can sit on the table with pretzel sticks inside. At kids’ birthday parties, they’d make an ideal gift for the guests. Later on, you can use them to hold pens. There are a thousand ideas... :)

Now you’re probably wondering what they look like, right?

Here they are—ta-daaaa! :) :) :)

The pattern is already in the works.

Dear Claudia,
I’m so happy for you. It’s a truly unique feeling when you reach the first 1,000. That’s a real highlight. I wish you continued success and lots of great ideas.

Best regards
Monika

Mel: Yes, I also think it’s totally sweet that my husband is getting so involved.

Claudia: Congratulations from me too, and I wish you continued recovery. Let them take care of you and get plenty of rest.

Monika: Those turned out really funny.

Yes, Marion, they are. They somehow also go well with Carnival.
I’ve written down a few ideas here for what they’re good for (besides using up scraps, of course):

ð as cheerful pencil holders on your desk
ð as a storage basket for small amounts of leftover yarn, buttons, and other bits and pieces
ð for storing crochet hooks and a set of double-pointed needles
ð on the table at birthday or Carnival parties with pretzel sticks in them
ð at children’s birthday parties as a small gift for the guests
ð filled and placed in an Easter basket
ð as cheerful gift packaging for gift certificates, money, candy, and other lovely things
ð for first graders in their school cone – first with sweets in it, later for pens

Tonight I’m starting the fourth one ... somehow they’re addictive. The gang wants to grow...
The next one will have braids.

By the way, they can be closed at the top to hide gifts inside. It looks like this - for example:

I now have four hippos :)
Monika, your “scrap-eating” gnomes are very handy!
My pattern is finally finished. Now I’m continuing to knit my coat.....

I think everything you’re making is really great. So much has happened while I was away for a bit… I’ve had a lot on my plate. The hippos really make you want to give them a try, and the “scrap-eaters” look very interesting, too. So far, I’ve had to catch up on work I’d put off while I was on sick leave and catch up on household chores, so I haven’t had much time for crafts. But now I’m getting back to it—my skirt is growing and thriving, and I’m already running out of yarn again.

Nadeleile, the hippos are really cute. I’ve made some similar ones as finger puppets!
Monika, the “leftover eaters” are funny. Are they crocheted around a toilet paper roll?

I just knitted overalls and pom-pom hats out of sock yarn for my grandchildren’s three baby dolls. It was quite a fiddly job because I didn’t have the dolls with me. Hopefully everything fits.
Now I’m crocheting finger puppets to relax. Photos to follow.

Ruth, yes, the “scrap eaters” have a toilet paper roll in their bellies. That’s why they stand so well and make great pencil holders. I just finished number 4. It’s a girl and she has braids. So cute—and funny, too, of course. Tomorrow I’ll upload a photo of her here.

Now the whole family is complete. :) And I’ve used up a looooot of scraps crocheting them. They’re perfect for that.

Making doll clothes is fun, too, but they can’t be too small—like finger puppets, for example. I admire your patience, Ruth. I can’t wait to see what they look like.

Congratulations, Claudia, and have a good rest!

Nadeleule, the Hippo family is really cute—I’ve had one of those little creatures on my wish list for a long time!

Monika, and I really like the little projects right now because they’re quick to finish. With big projects like clothes, I often lose interest if they take too long, especially when a new idea is already swirling around in my head.

Ruth, I agree. My friend was thrilled with the gift. The two of them seemed happy about the new addition, too. But they were only allowed to sniff him.

Marion: How adorable. These are really great photos, and what a wonderful compliment for you, too. But the pug is really great as well

Wow, Marion, your pug looks just like the others—you can hardly tell them apart. It turned out really great.
Cute photos! :)

Let me introduce Stash-Buster No. 4 - her name is Valentina and she has braids.
This time I used thinner cotton yarn.

@ Marion

How sweet is that? It sounds like your gift was a huge hit.
With dogs, it’s not always a given that they’ll accept new ones—hopefully it’s not just puppy license. :-) ;-)

Thank you for your kind comments.

I was also very happy that the gift was so well received. The pug turned out so cute, too. The two of them were only allowed to look at it, but apparently they liked it as well. I’m thinking about making another one for myself, but not until later.

Thanks, Marion. :)
Valentina is a Valentine’s Day gift to myself. From now on, she’ll hold my tiny leftover yarn and a few of my sets of double-pointed needles.

Here’s an overall photo now - the four of them had their photo shoot today.

Christina, yes, your winter child is still pretty shy, but very cute. It’ll definitely enjoy some company.

Christina: That’s really cute. I’m already looking forward to the next ones.
I’ve now finished the crocodile hand puppet for my husband.

The next hand puppet will be the robber. I just bought a book with plays for a puppet theater. Anton’s still a bit too young for it, but he’ll get there… and now I’m going to make all the puppets and props for the plays.

For the first one, I need Kasper and Gretel (they’re already done), the robber, and a little basket of apples.

I wish you all a good night

Sandra, the crocodile turned out great. It looks really dangerous. ;-)
I think it’s great that you want to equip the whole theater. A really nice project. I’m already looking forward to seeing your next finished figures and everything that goes with them.

I wish everyone a good night, too!

Yes, Sandra, handmade Kasper puppets are something truly special! Many years ago, I made all the figures for my children—not by crocheting, but from self-drying modeling clay, and the clothes were sewn. These figures were played with a lot and have since been passed down to my grandchildren. I then had to make a second “set” because I had two children and they split up the puppets. So, of course, some important characters were missing. I’ll have to dig through my things—then I’ll show you some pictures of them.

Sandra, your crocodile turned out great. You’ll have a lot of fun with the figures. Even though Anton is still too little for the stories right now, he’ll grow up so fast, and maybe he’ll even put on a little show for you with the figures.

Christina, your winter child is adorable. So tiny, too. I admire everyone who has the patience to crochet such tiny little arms and legs.

My last project after Yoshi was the gift wrapping for our grandson. For Christmas, we’d already wrapped the gifts in “reusable” wrapping paper and used little Christmas doilies. Now, for his birthday, I sewed the first wrapping myself. I have plenty of fabric in stock and more than enough scraps. So I appliquéd a few balloons with dinosaur motifs onto the fabric. A new way to reduce waste. (My photo)
