Dear users, dear authors,
are the techniques used for heavy knit and chunky knit, or the result, identical, or are there differences?
Heavy knit is apparently trending in 2019, which is why I’m asking. :-)

I actually had to Google it first—I’ve never heard of “Schwerstrick” before. I think it actually refers to “Grobstrick.” But it sounds kind of weird. Let’s see if there are any more answers—I’m curious!

I came across this recently while researching new topics for the forum and thought someone here might know the answer. :- )

... hehe. It kind of makes me think of chain mail…

Or maybe knitting while your hands are shackled in heavy chains—properly medieval. :-)

Let’s hope none of that is the case and that we end up with a few fluffy sweaters instead.

I’m guessing these are pieces made with very thick yarn.

Or does “schwer” mean “difficult”? Then patterns for Schwerstrick would be really intimidating, hehe! I’ve never heard that term either.

Maybe they drape “heavily” because of the cut....?

And with chunky knit, we treat the knitted piece especially roughly — or rather, coarsely. :)
Such a ridiculously stupid name for pieces with large stitches. It sounds better in English: chunky knit (lumpy knitting).

Thanks for now :-)
Is there any more info?

I just Googled it because I had absolutely no idea what it meant. If (!) I understand correctly, Schwerstrick refers to the material. The image search brings up a few sweaters made from it, and some online shops offer this kind of item. Probably thicker wool or something like that—thicker yarn, in any case.
