Mosaic Pattern / Slip Stitch Pattern

How does the mosaic pattern and the slip stitch pattern work? Is there a connection between them?

The slipped-stitch pattern works great for creating mosaics. That’s what I did with my cushion cover. Here’s what it looks like in this example—the pattern was created using only slipped stitches.



However, mosaic patterns can also be created in other ways, for example by changing colors within a row. That’s a variation that’s a bit more complicated to knit.
