Winding Your Own Yarn Cake

Hi! I’d really love to try winding my very own custom yarn cake. Does anyone have any experience with this? I don’t necessarily want to have to buy a bunch of large cones for it—some “trial cones” with less yarn would be enough. I haven’t really found what I’m looking for while searching online yet.

Hi everyone, I’ve caught the bobble fever and am thinking about winding my own. I’ve already read a lot of questions and tips here. I’d be interested to know how much a 3- or 4-ply bobble of 800 meters would cost. I’d have to buy all the supplies first, after all. A yarn counter, a yarn winder, and the individual cones. Maybe someone has already done the math and can give me an approximate price and tell me how many bobbles it takes to make it worth winding them myself.
