Size Information
The finished booties measure approximately 9 to 10 cm (3.5 to 4 inches) in length, which generally fits babies aged 3 to 6 months.
Please note that this age range is only a guideline, as every baby's feet grow and develop differently. For the best fit, measure the child's foot before you begin and compare the measurement with a standard baby shoe size chart.
You will need:
- Crochet hook size 2 mm
- Yarn in white and a contrasting color (approx. 50 g / 140 m)

Fasten off the thread and weave in the ends. Determine the center of the heel. From this center point, count 14 stitches to the right and 14 stitches to the left, giving a total of 28 stitches. To make the section easier to identify, place a stitch marker in each of the two outer stitches.
Starting at the right marker, chain 3, then work 28 double crochet stitches across the marked section.

Next, work one round of reverse single crochet stitches (crab stitches) evenly around the entire edge of the bootie. This decorative edging gives the bootie a neat and professional finish.
Fasten off the yarn and carefully weave in all loose ends using a sewing needle.

Position the muzzle on the bear's head and join it by working slip stitches (sl st) evenly around the entire edge.
Do not cut the yarn. Leave a long yarn tail attached at the back, as it will be used later to sew the muzzle securely onto the shoes.

Finishing the Bear's Face
For this sample, I used googly eyes and attached them with superglue. However, because these booties are intended for babies, I do not recommend using googly eyes. Even if they are checked regularly, there is always a risk that they could come loose and become a choking hazard.
For a safer alternative, embroider the eyes using black yarn. To create a more realistic and expressive look, add a few small stitches of white yarn to mimic light reflections in the eyes.
If you are making the booties as a gift, choosing embroidered features instead of glued on embellishments is especially recommended.
Embroider the nose as well by working a few stitches with black yarn in the desired position.

Belt
Chain 25
Right side: Work 21 double crochet into the 3rd chain from the hook. Chain 2, skip 1 stitch, then work 1 double crochet into the next stitch.
Finish by working slip stitches evenly around the entire belt
Left side: Work 1 double crochet into the 3rd chain from the hook, chain 2, skip 1 stitch, then work 21 double crochet stitches across.
Finish by working slip stitches evenly around the entire belt.

As an alternative to the belt, you can crochet a simple cord using chain stitches. Thread the finished cord evenly through the stitches around the opening of the bootie. Then tie the ends into a decorative bow and trim them to the desired length, if necessary.
Finally, sew the belt (if used), the bear appliqué, and the buttons securely onto the bootie.
