SKILL LEVEL
I would classify this free crochet pattern as an advanced beginner. It is necessary to have some experience with crocheting before creating this project.

The ready hat fits 12-14 inches doll, can be made bigger or smaller depending on the yarn and hook you use.

Dc = double crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Tc = triple crochet
Rnd = Round

TIPS
- Do not join rounds, work in a continuous spiral.
- Use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to keep track of the last stitch in each round
- All stitches are worked into both loops, unless stated otherwise in the pattern.
- When filling with polyester stuffing, pull apart each large chunk into many smaller chunks. This ensures an even distribution of firmness within the amigurumi
- Booties can be made in any desired colors.
Seamless way of changing color when working in the round
Pick up the new color at the end of the round: inset your hook into the stitch, yarn over the new color and pull through the stitch and the loop on your hook to complete the stitch.
To make a magic ring
- Loop the thread twice around your middle finger
- Put the hook under both loops, pull the yarn under the loops and hook the thread again
- Pull the thread through the new loop. The first crochet stitch is ready!
- Repeat the number of times needed.
- Pull the inner threads to tighten the ring.
Back Post Single Crochet:
Starting from the back of the work, insert hook from back to front, continue across the post, and insert hook from front to back, yarn over, draw the yarn forward, around the post, and through to the back of the work, yarn over and draw the yarn through the two loops on the hook.
INSTRUCTIONS
This design for crocheted doll hat is one of my favorites. It is pretty easy to make and to customize. I´ve divided these instructions into a few smaller sections. We start off by making a crochet hat first.
HAT
Start your work using beige colored yarn.
Round 1: 6 single crochets into Magic Ring
Round 2: increase 6 times (12 stitches)
Rounds 3-5: single crochet in each of next 12 stitches
Round 6: *decrease* 6 times
Round 7: increase every stitch (12 stitches)
Round 8: increase every stitch (24 stitches)
Round 9: chain 3 stitches, double crochet in the same stitch as chain, double crochet in next stitch, *2 double crochets in the next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch*, repeat from*to* 11 times, slip stitch to top of chain 3 (36 stitches)
Round 10: chain 3 stitches, double crochet in the same stitch as chain, double crochet in next stitch, *2 double crochets in the next stitch, double crochet in each of next 2 stitches*, repeat from*to* 11 times, slip stitch to top of chain 3 (48 stitches)
Round 11: chain 3 stitches, double crochet in the same stitch as chain, double crochet in next stitch, *2 double crochets in the next stitch, double crochet in each of next 3 stitches*, repeat from*to* 11 times, slip stitch to top of chain 3 (60 stitches)
Rounds 12-13: single crochet in each of next 60 stitches
PUFF STITCH
Wrap the yarn over the hook and insert the hook into the next stitch. Yarn over again and draw up a loop. You should have three loops on your hook. Yarn over, insert your hook through the same chain stitch, yarn over, and then draw up another loop. Repeat this step 4 times. Yarn over and draw it through all the loops. With the loop pulled through the puff stitch, make a single chain. This secures the puff stitch, keeps the stitch more upright, and creates the space to work in the next row.
Change the yarn color to brown
Round 14: chain 3 stitches, *puff stitch in the next stitch, double crochet in the next stitch, skip 1 stitch*, repeat from* till the end of the round.
Round 15: chain 3 stitches, *puff stitch in the next double crochet of the previous round, double crochet in the next stitch of the previous round*, repeat from* till the end of the round.
Round 16: repeat round 15 twice.
