Free crochet pattern for Milly the moth

Blog-Inhaltsbild für 'Free crochet pattern for Milly the moth'

Here she is, my little chubby moth Milly! She's quick and easy to crochet and also ideal for using up leftover yarn.

You can crochet her in all sorts of colors and yarn and even use her for a mobile, for example. Its rounded body is also very suitable for storing a rattle and thus using it as a baby toy.

Do you need a quick little gift that's also super cute? Then this crochet pattern is just what you're looking for.

Below, I'll explain everything step-by-step with plenty of photos, so the pattern is also suitable for beginners with some crochet experience.

---

The pattern for "Milly the Moth" is for personal use only. It may not be sold, forwarded, reproduced, published, translated into other languages, exchanged with other patterns, or modified to be passed on or sold as your own pattern.

The sale of the finished toy, which was created with the help of these pattern, is allowed with the name of the designer (Gutherz - Doreen Goedhart). The seller must add this notice to the item description and the product being sold.

Thank you very much and have fun crocheting!

To crochet the moth's legs, you need to crochet bobble stitches (bo). These are crocheted as follows:
Crochet an unfinished dc: Yarn over and insert your hook in the next stitch. Yarn over and pull through. Now you have 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through two loops. That’s your first unfinished dc. Repeat till you have 4 unfinished dc on your hook (in total 5 loops on your hook). Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.

After crocheting the next few stitches, you have to push the bobble outwards.

Finish:

Embroider your moth's eyes with black cotton yarn in rounds 9-10, 6 stitches apart. The eyes should be aligned with the legs. You can add a highlight to the eyes with a little white yarn.

I added the freckles in a contrasting color with 3 small stitches each, just below the eyes (see photo). I also applied a touch of pink blush underneath to give the moth an even cuter look and to make the freckles stand out more.

The eyebrows are embroidered with a length of 1 stitch, two rounds above the eyes (between rounds 6 and 7).

Finally, the wings are sewn onto the center of the moth's back with a few stitches. The narrow middle section should be positioned within the three rounds of the same color (rounds 15-17).
