Free knitting pattern for a beginner-friendly lace triangular shawl

Abbreviations

es = edge stitch - knitted on the right side.
k = knit stitch
k2tog = knit 2 stitches together
psso = pass slipped stitch over (see note for explanation)
yo = yarn over

108 cm wide and 71 cm high

• 143 g 100 % polyacrylic – yardage approx 525 yd / 143 g ("NUA" from Tedi)

• Circular knitting needle 4 6

• Stitch markers (optional)

Note

In the back rows, knit the stitches purlwise. Exceptions: edge stitches and yarn overs are knit.
Only the front rows are described.
Knit with a yarn over: To do this, slip a stitch as if to knit, knit the next stitch, and pass the slipped stitch over.

The pattern is knitted in this pattern until it reaches the desired size.

Completion

I decided to use an I-cord cast-off instead of simply binding off.
To do this, knit two extra stitches at the beginning of the row.
Knit these two stitches and then knit the next two stitches together through the back loop.
You now have 3 stitches on the right needle.
Transfer these stitches back to the left needle.
Repeat the following until you have only 3 stitches left:
* 2 knit stitches, knit 2 together through the back loop.
Repeat placing the stitches back on the left needle.
Finally, knit 1 stitch, knit 2 together through the back loop, and pull one stitch over.

Cut the thread and sew it up.
