TIPS
- Do not join rounds, work in a continuous spiral
- Place a stitch marker or a piece of yarn at the beginning stitch of the round and move it up at the start of each additional round
- This pattern doesn´t include any specific stitch tutorials
- All stitches are worked into both loops, unless stated otherwise in the pattern
- The number of stitches for completion is noted in parentheses at the end of each round
- When filling with polyester stuffing, pull apart each large chunk into many smaller chunks. This ensures an even distribution of firmness within the amigurumi
- Amigurumi can be made in any desired colors
- The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology
Seamless way of changing color when working in the round
Pick up the new color at the end of the round: inset your hook into the stitch, yarn over the new color and pull through the stitch and the loop on your hook to complete the stitch.
To make a magic ring
- Loop the thread twice around your middle finger
- Put the hook under both loops, pull the yarn under the loops and hook the thread again
- Pull the thread through the new loop. The first crochet stitch is ready!
- Repeat the number of times needed.
- Pull the inner threads to tighten the ring.
INSTRUCTIONS
Start crocheting the bag with the base of the gift bag.
BAG
Work using red colored yarn.
Round 1: 6 single crochets into Magic Ring (alternative: if preferred, chain 2 stitches and then 6 single crochets in the second chain from hook) (6 stitches)
Round 2: 2 single crochets in each stitch around (12 stitches)
Round 3: *single crochet in the next stitch, increase* (18 stitches)
Round 4: *single crochet in each of next 2 stitches, increase* (24 stitches)
Round 5: *single crochet in each of next 3 stitches, increase* (30 stitches)
Round 6: *single crochet in each of next 4 stitches, increase* (36 stitches)
Round 7: *single crochet in each of next 5 stitches, increase* (42 stitches)
Round 8: *single crochet in each of next 6 stitches, increase* (48 stitches)
Rounds 9-13: single crochet in each of next 48 stitches
Change the yarn color to black
Rounds 14-16: single crochet in each of next 48 stitches
Change the yarn color to red
Rounds 17-20: single crochet in each of next 48 stitches
Round 21: *decrease, single crochet in each of next 6 stitches* (42 stitches)
The stitches of the next round will create the holes for weaving in the drawstring.
Round 22: *single crochet in the next stitch, chain 1 stitch, skip the next stitch*, repeat from* till the end of the round.
Round 23: single crochet in each of next 42 stitches
Rounds 24-25: single crochet in each of next 42 stitches
Change the yarn color to white
The white fluffy yarn can also be used.
Rounds 26-27: single crochet in each of next 42 stitches
Finish the last stitch with a slip stitch and cut the yarn. Weave in all yarn ends.
Chain stitches for approx. 33 cm. Weave the drawstring through the stitches of the row 22 of the bag starting in one of the center holes. The ends may seem short to tie, but when you draw the strings in, they’ll be long enough. Pull together and tie in a bow to close the bag.
You can add small pom poms to decorate and attach them to the drawstring.
Using yellow yarn and tapestry needle, embroider a belt buckle using the embroidery method for crochet amigurumi. I held the yarn double to make the belt more noticeable. Your Gift Bag is ready!
