The Easter Bunny. 2 in 1 - crochet + knitting

A cute and tender bunny for your festive Easter table. I created it in two variants for your choice. Who prefers crochet or knitting.

Materials:

– Alize forever 50 g /280 m (white and pink)

– YarnArt Begonia 50 g /169 m (any color of your choice)

– some pink and brown thread

– crochet hook 3 and 1,75

– needle for sewing, scissors, fiberfill, plastic nose, glass eyes

Abbreviations:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

inc – increase

dec – decrease, two single crochets together

dc – double crochet 

hdc – half double crochet 

Body (in white)

1. Crochet 6 sc in a ring

2. 6 inc  = 12 sc

3. (1 inc , 1 sc ) х 6 = 18 sc

1. From the 2rd ch from the hook, crochet 6 sc , 3 в 1, 6 sc  = 15 sc

Pink paw detail (2 pcs)

4 Ch  From the 2rd ch from the hook, crochet 3 sc

Sew a pink strip to the legs as shown in the photo. And add three pink dots on the ends of the legs.

  

 

Ears (2 pcs in white)

12 Ch

1. From the 2rd ch from the hook, crochet 11 sc ,  11 sc  on the other side = 22 sc

2. 1 sc , 1 hdc , 7 dc , 1 hdc , 1 sc , 1 dc  at the top of the part, on the other side 1 sc , 1 hdc , 7 dc , 1 hdc , 1 sc

Bind off. To cut off a thread. To leave the small end of thread for further operation.

Pink ear part (2 pcs)

10 Ch

From the 2rd ch from the hook, crochet 1 sc , 1 hdc , 5 dc , 1 hdc , 1 sc

Bind off. To cut off a thread. To leave the small end of thread for further operation.

Sew the pink part to the white ears, slightly offset to one edge (not in the center). Fold the bottom edge of the white ear in half and secure with a couple of stitches.

  

Muzzle (white)

5 Ch

1. From the 2rd ch from the hook, crochet 3 sc , 3 in 1, 3 sc , 3 in 1 = 12 sc

2. 3 sc , 3 inc , 3 sc , 3 inc  = 18 sc

Bind off. To cut off a thread. To leave the small end of thread for further operation.

Basket

You can take any yarn you like, in my case it was YarnArt Begonia, hook 1.75

1. Crochet 6 sc in a ring  (I took the yellow color)

2. 6 inc  = 12 sc

3. (1 inc , 1 sc ) х 6 = 18 sc

4. (1 inc , 2 sc ) х 6 = 24 sc

You can knit them in regular sc . Or you can do row 14 like I did. 3 sc with regular sc. Then 1 sc in the row below, 1 sc two rows below and 1 more sc 1 row below.

Bind off. To cut off a thread.

Assemble the rabbit parts.

Sew the head to the torso.

 

Sew the legs to the torso at an incline.

Sew on the tail. Sew on the upper legs.

 

The position of the ears can be chosen at your discretion. For example, one of the three options in the photo.

  

To the head sew a face, adding a little filler. For this rabbit I took a plastic nose. Another variant of design will be below.

   

Embroider the eyes with brown thread. And I added more glass eyes. Embroider the mouth with pink thread.

  

Sew a basket to the arms.

You can finish the knitting with a regular plain edge or any shaped edge of your choice.

Cast off. Fold the piece together and sew it together.

  

Assemble the rabbit parts.

Sew the head to the torso.

Sew the legs to the torso at an incline.

Sew on the tail. Sew on the upper legs.

To the head sew the face, adding a little filler. For this rabbit I embroidered the nose with pink thread. Also embroider a smile. Embroider the eyes with brown thread. I left them as if he is squinting from the sun.

For the spring composition, I added a lawn of two types of yarn. YarnArt tecno with a long pile. And Alize softy with the main thread.

16 Ch

1. From the 2rd ch from the hook, crochet 13 sc , 3 sc  in 1, 13 sc , 3 sc in 1 = 32 sc

2. 13 sc , 3 inc , 13 sc , 3 inc  = 38 sc

3. 13 sc , (1 sc , 1 inc ) х 3, 13 sc , (1 sc , 1 inc ) х 3 = 44 sc

4. 13 sc , (2 sc , 1 inc ) х 3, 13 sc , (2 sc , 1 inc ) х 3 = 50 sc

5. 13 sc , (3 sc , 1 inc ) х 3, 13 sc , (3 sc , 1 inc ) х 3 = 56 sc

You can stop at this version of the lawn. Or continue and add a second yarn for more grass imitation.

Now add fluffy yarn (YarnArt tecno) and crochet two yarns at once to the end. Crochet all the loops with the main yarn only. And the fluffy yarn is laid parallel to the row line. Hugging as if a loop, embracing the fluffy thread of the main thread. See photo.

I wanted to add two more protrusions to the oval shape, for a more interesting lawn shape.

You can either make the two semicircles separately and then sew them on. Or you can continue crocheting and on one of the corners knit three rows of turn rows. I have shown it schematically on the photo.

Add decorations in the form of flowers. I got a lawn like this.
