Free Crochet Pattern for Fur Tree

SUPPLIES

ca 60-70 gr Schachenmayr Catania 125m/50 g in green, a bit of white and red, crochet hook C, beads for decoration, wire, polyester fiberfill, yarn needle.

The ready tree is approx. 30 cm, can be made bigger or smaller depending on the yarn and hook you use.

Ch =chain

St = stitch

Sc =single crochet

Sl st = slip stitch

dec = decrease stitch (two single crochets together)

inc = increase stitch (two single crochets into one stitch)

Rnd = Round

TIPPS

• Do not join rounds, work in a continuous spiral.
• Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the end or the beginning of a round
• All stitches are worked into both loops, unless stated otherwise in the pattern.
• Doll can be made in any desired colours.

Seamsless way of changing color when working in the round

Pick up the new color at the end of the round: inset your hook into the stitch, yarn over the new color and pull through the stitch and the loop on your hook to complete the stitch.

Front Post Double Crochet:

Yarn over, insert your hook between the posts of the first and second stitch of the row below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches

Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch. You now have 3 loops on the hook

Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice. 

One front post double crochet (FP dc) is complete.

INSTRUCTIONS

BOOTIE and LEG (2x)

Rnd 1: ch10, sc into the 2nd st from hook and each of next 7 sts, 3 sc in next st, working in other side of  foundation ch: sc in each of next 7 sts, 2 sc in next st (=20 sts)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each of next 2 sts,  sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in each of next 3 sts, sc in each of next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st (=26 sts)

Rnd 3: sc in each of next 2 sts,  2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st (=30 sts)

Rnd 4: sc in next st,  2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 10 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 10 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, sl st (=34 sts)

Rnd 5 (working in the back loop): ch3, dcbp worked into each of the next st around.

Rnd 6: ch3, dc in each of next 34 sts.

Rnd 7: ch1, sc in each of next 8 sts, *dec, sc in next st* 3 times, sc in each of next 2 sts, *sc in next st, dec* 3 times, sc in each of next 6 sts (=28 sts)

Rnd 8: sc in each of next 8 sts, *dec* 7 times, sc in each of next 6 sts (=21 st)

Rnd 9: sc in each of next 8 sts, *dec* 4 times, sc in each of next 5 sts (=17 sts)

Rnd 10-11: sc in each of next 17 sts

Don´t cast off!

Change the color

Rnd 12 in white: (working in the back loop): sc in each of next 17 sts

Work one round in crab stitch (working in the front loop of Rnd 13). Cast off the red yarn.

Rnd 15-22 in white: sc in each of next 17 sts around.

Cast off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Cut ca. 30 cm pieces of wire.

Bend tips of the wire as shown on photos.

Stuff  the booties. To add weight to feet put little round stones or plastic pellets into booties.

Insert the wire into booties. The bent end shouldn´t come out.

TREE BASE

Rnd 1: 4 sc into Magic Ring.

Rnd 2-3: sc in each of next 4 sts.

Rnd 4: *sc in next st, inc* (6 sts)

Rnd 5-6: sc in each of next 6 sts.

Rnd 7: *sc in each of next 2 sts, inc* (8 sts)

Rnd 8-9: sc in each of next 8 sts.

Rnd 10: *sc in each of next 3 sts, inc* (10 sts)

Rnd 11-12: sc in each of next 10 sts.

Rnd 13: *sc in each of next 4 sts, inc* (12 sts)

Rnd 14-15: sc in each of next 12 sts.

Rnd 16: *sc in next st, inc* (18 sts)

Rnd 17: sc in each of next 18 sts.

Rnd 18: *sc in each of next 2 sts, inc* (24 sts)

Rnd 71: *dec, sc in each of next 5 sts* (36 sts).

Rnd 72: *dec, sc in each of next 4 sts* (30 sts).

Rnd 73: *dec, sc in each of next 3 sts* (24 sts).

Insert the long ends of the wire into the tree base where legs will be placed. Stuff tree cone with fiberfill or other stuffing material until it is firm.

Rnd 74: *dec, sc in each of next 2 sts* (18 sts).

Rnd 75: *dec, sc in next st* (12 sts).

Rnd 76: *dec* 6 times.

Cast off and weave in end.

RUFFLES

R 1: Make ca 210 cm long crochet chain.

R 2: ch1, *sc in next st, ch7, skip next 5 sts, sc in next st, ch5, skip next 4 sts*, repeat from* to* till the end of row.

R 3: ch3, into ch-7 space work: *dc, picot (ch3, sl st in the first chain)* 9 times; ch1, sc into next ch-5 space.

ASSEMBLY

Sew both legs to the cone around the wire core.

Sew ruffles to the cone with distance of 3-4 rows. Decorated it with your imagination.
