Free Crochet Pattern for Giraffe

This sweet colorful giraffe will brighten up a loved one´s day! It will become an inseparable friend! A great gift, also perfect as a decoration. You can make it in any desired colours.

THAT´S WHAT YOU NEED

ca 50 gr Schachenmayr Catania 50 g/137 yds, Sport Yarn, 5ply in 3 colours: orange, beige or grey and blue, a bit of white, crochet hook C, polyester fiber fill stuffing, two black beads or little safety eyes, tapestry needle, sewing needle, scissors.

TIPPS

• Do not join rounds, work in a continuous spiral
• Make sure you crochet pretty tight to get no stretching holes between the stitches after you filled in the stuffing firmly
• Use a stitch marker or a piece of yarn to mark the end or the beginning of a round
• All stitches are worked into both loops, unless stated otherwise in the pattern

Seamsless way of changing color when working in the round

Pick up the new color at the end of the round: inset your hook into the stitch, yarn over the new color and pull through the stitch and the loop on your hook to complete the stitch.

HEAD and BODY

Use orange color yarn or any you wish, begin with magic ring.

Rnd 1: 6 sc into Magic Ring.

Rnd 2: inc 6 times (12 stitches)

Rnd 3: *sc in next st, inc* (18 stitches)

Rnd 4: *sc in each of next 2 sts, inc* (24 stitches)

Rnd 5: *sc in each of next 3 sts, inc* (30 stitches)

LEG (4x)

Use black color yarn to start with

Rnd 1: 6 sc into Magic Ring.

Rnd 2: *sc in next st, inc* (9 M)

Change the color

Rnd 5-24: sc in each of next 9 sts

Add small ammount of stuffing into the legs.

Cast off leaving a long tail for sewing feet to the body.

HEAD

SPOTS

Use any desired color of the yarn. And crochet as many spots for the back of your giraffe as you wish.

Work 12 dc into Magic Ring. Cast off leaving a long tail for sewing them to the body of the giraffe.

ASSEMBLY

Using yarn needle sew ears and horns to the head of the giraffe.

Decide where you will position eyes and sew them to the head of your sweet friend. Sew little black beads on or embroider eyes if the toy is made for baby.

Embroider mouth using black color yarn.

Sew legs and head to the body.

Sew spots and hide yarn ends.
