Free Knitting Pattern for Felted Baby Booties

MATERIALS

ca. 100 gr 100% Wool Filzi by Schoeller+Stahl , 54 yards/50gr, Bulky / 12 ply (7 wpi), US 8 double point needles, felted motives and pearls, crochet hook G

The length of the sole of the bootie is ca 10 cm.

NOTES

These knitted and felted Baby Booties without seams are quickly made, very warm and practical.

Please remember that every yarn felts differently according to different ways of spinning or dyeing. You can vary size by going up with needle size or using thicker yarn.

INSTRUCTIONS

This pattern begins at the bottom of the bootie and works up toward the cuff.
SOLE

Cast on 7 stitches.

R1: 7 ks, turn.

R2: 1 ks, yo, 5 ks, yo, 1 ks, turn.
R3: 9 ks, turn the work.

R4: 1 ks, yo, 7 ks, yo, 1 ks, turn.
R5:  11 ks, turn.

R6: 1 ks, yo, 9 ks, yo, 1 ks, turn.

R7-20: 13ks, turn.

R21: 1 ks, yo, 11 ks, yo, 1 ks, turn.

R22-33: 15 ks.

R34: 1 ks, k2tog, 9 ks, k2tog, 1 ks, turn.
R35: 13 ks, turn.

R36: 1 ks, k2tog, 7 ks, k2tog, 1 ks, turn.
R37: 11 ks.

R38: 1 ks, k2tog, 5 ks, k2tog, 1 ks, turn.
R39: 9 ks.

R40: 1 ks, k2tog, 3 ks, k2tog, 1 ks, turn

Cast off 7 stitches.

SIDES of the BOOTIE

Cast on 18 stitches on each of the sides of the bootie, 12 stitches on top and 10 stitches on back.

8 rows ks.

18 ks, 10 ks, 18 ks, 11 ks, k2tog(the last of the top and first of the side), *turn work, slip one stitch as to purl, 10 ps, p2tog; turn work, slip one stitch as to knit, 10 ks, k2tog*.

Repeat from* until the total number of stitches is 40, ending with the purl round, do not turn the work on the final purl row.

CUFF

• Continuing in the round, knit to the end of the round (40 ps).

6 rounds 40 ps

1 round 40 ks

*1 ks, 1 ps*, repeat from * to* 6 rounds. Cast off stitches.

The upper round crochet with crab stitch (reverse single crochet). Sew up all yarn ends.

To felt I use my washing machine at a heat of 60° C. When booties are felted to the desired size, pull them into shape and let dry thoroughly. You can decorate booties by stitching on them or adding pearls and felted motives. I also used liquid latex for the soles of booties in order to prevent slipping.
