Teddy Bear Cosy for a mug

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc - double crochet 
inc – increase (2 sc in 1 st)
dec – decrease (single crochet two stitches together)

Materials:
Cosy: acrylic or cotton yarn. I used 300 m/ 100 g acrylic yarn
Colour of your choice
Applique: acrylic or cotton yarn. I used 300 m/ 100 acrylic yarn
Colours: grey, red, white
A crochet hook. I used 1.5mm crochet hook
A sewing needle
Sewing threads
Black, blue and white colour embroidery yarn/thread
Button

Cosy 
Work with the yarn of your choice. Try it on as you go. The number of rounds may vary depending on the size of your cosy. My mug is narrower at the bottom and wider at the top. If you use a straight mug, you do not need to make increases after Rnd 9.

To make a loop ch22, join into a ring with a sl st.  Work around the chain as follows: 9 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 9 sc.
Cut off yarn, fasten off.

Sew on a button.

Head
Crochet with grey colour yarn.
1) 6 sc in a Magic Ring

5) (inc, 3 sc)х 5 times, inc, 1 sc, 2 sl st (30)
Cut off yarn, fasten off.

Ears (make 2)
Crochet with grey colour yarn.
1) 5 sc in a Magic Ring, ch, turn 
2) 2 sc, inc, 2 sc (6)
Cut off yarn, fasten off.

Arm
Crochet with grey colour yarn.
Ch 8
1) starting from 2nd ch from hook: 4 sc, 2 hdc, 4 hdc into the last loop, continue further along the other side of chain: 1 hdc, 5 sc.
Cut off yarn, fasten off.

Muzzle
Work with white colour yarn.
Ch 4
1) starting from 2nd ch from hook: 2 sc, 3 sc into the last loop, continue further along the other side of chain: 1 sc, inc (8)

3) 11 sc, 1 sl st (12)
Cut off yarn, fasten off.

Heart
Work with red colour yarn.
1) 6 sc in a Magic Ring, ch, turn 
2) 2 inc, (2 hdc in 1 loop)х 2 times, 2 inc, ch, turn  (12)
3) (1 sc, inc)х 2 times, 1 sc, in 1 loop: 1 hdc, 1 dc, in 1 loop: 1 dc, 1 hdc, continue as follows: (1 sc, inc)х 2 times, 1 sc (18)
Do not turn! Work 6 sl st from A to B. 
Cut off yarn, fasten off.

Sew the applique onto the right side from the button. Attach the ears, leave a gap of 8 stitches between the ears, sew them on.

Attach and sew on the muzzle, arm and heart.

Embroider the nose with the blue colour thread. Embroider the muzzle, patches on the head and arm with black colour thread. Embroider the flares on the eyes with white colour thread.
