Dear Marion / Wollefaden,
dear hard-working little helper,
congratulations on the honorary title “Conqueror of the Inner Slacker” for one year without buying yarn / using up leftover yarn / reducing your yarn stash. This inner slacker has definitely been conquered.
I had no doubt that you would manage it. :- ) You have also truly earned the title “hard-working little helper.” It’s clear time and again with every monthly project that you consistently stick with it. I’m glad to have you here.

If you’d like, you can share here in this thread what it was like for you, how much yarn you used in total, how many projects you completed by hand, and so on. Have fun with it.

I heard you’d like to keep going / continue your yarn diet for a while longer? If so, we might have to come up with a new title for you. It would be great, of course, if you kept us in the loop.

@everyone, do you have suggestions for an honorary title for people who keep dieting after becoming Conquerors of the Inner Slacker? Let me know.

Haekeltrulla will also soon become a Conqueror of the Inner Slacker. I have no doubt she’ll see it through. It would be nice, of course, if you could cheer her on a little more. :- ) We’ll celebrate this title on January 1, 2019, if I’m not mistaken.

Dear Marion!
I’d like to congratulate you wholeheartedly on the title “Inner Slacker Conqueror”!
I don’t think anyone else could resist for so long!
And Haekeltrulla, you’ll make it too! It won’t be long now!
You both have my utmost respect.
I suggest a new title: “Super Yarn Mountain Conqueror.”

I hope you both continue to have lots of fun conjuring up amazing projects from your gigantic stash :)

Wow, Marion, that’s quite an achievement! You’ve definitely earned your own thread for that!
How about “Yarn-Buying Ascetic”?

Hello everyone
Thank you so much for the high praise!

I was surprised this morning by the extra thread for me, but I’m also very happy about it. It’s simply lovely here with you.

Thanks to Josefa’s wonderful threads, I’ve managed to get quite a lot done this year. It’s also really fun when you can chat here and see that there are still a few other “crazy” people like me.

Actually, the yarn diet hasn’t been hard for me. Unfortunately, for many years I kept buying yarn, including larger quantities of one kind. It added up so much that it fills shelves and a large part of a closet. For a while I wasn’t knitting or crocheting anymore, but I kept shopping. Thanks to you, I weighed it once and ended up with almost 70 kg of yarn. That was pretty crazy. That’s why I finally started the diet.
I’m glad I now have almost 12 kg less yarn. Since then, more than 120 items have actually been made, small and larger ones.
You can surely imagine that my husband is also happy that by now I only look at the shop windows and don’t buy anything anymore.
I hope I can keep up the diet for a while longer, because there’s still enough for quite a few sweaters, cardigans, or shawls.

I wish you a lovely weekend.

@ Häkeltrulla, Of course you can do it too,

Wowwww! Hats off to you, Marion—that’s quite an achievement. And I’d like to congratulate you wholeheartedly on this honorary title. 70 kg of yarn—that’s quite a feat! 12 kg actually sounds like very little… but once turned into projects, it’s a lot again.

You’ve got every reason to look forward to your next title.

By the way, I’d like to stick with it for a loooong time this time, too. Looking at my stash, I think I could probably tackle the “Super Wool Mountain Conqueror” as well—at least in terms of my supply.

I’m also happy to be here and to have this great exchange with all of you. It’s just more fun and incredibly motivating to make progress on the UFOs and other projects. Without you all and Josefa, some of these UFOs would probably never have seen the light of day.

I wish all of you here—including Josefa—a cozy final stretch leading up to Christmas. :)
It’s great to have you all here!

Warm regards,
Monika

P.S.:
Yes, “Super Wool Mountain Conqueror” sounds great and fitting! I’m all for awarding this honorary title to the truly brave. Thanks, Mel, for the idea.

@Häkeltrulla,
I know you’re well on your way and you’ll make it too. Keep enjoying turning your mountains of yarn into beautiful creations.

Warm regards
Monika

Okay, ladies.
On 12/31/2019 / 1/1/2020 I will award everyone who keeps dieting after the "inner-pig-dog conqueror" the title "Super Yarn Mountain Conqueror."

Have fun dieting.

Congratulations. A whole year without buying any yarn. My deepest respect. I can't keep it up for that long. I make that resolution over and over again, but then I give in and my stash grows a little again.

At the moment, I've used up 62 grams more (please don't laugh) than I most recently bought. I bought 1,900 grams, and as of yesterday I've used up 1,962 grams. I'm so proud of myself. Have a lovely third Advent weekend, everyone!

@WollwunderPetra

Congratulations on using up more yarn than you bought.
If I had done the same, my stash would be smaller too.
But I’m sticking with it.

I wish everyone a lovely third Sunday of Advent.

PS.
How lovely, this morning everything was finally white; it really did snow last night.

Wow, Marion... even if 70 kg is already quite something... making 12 kg disappear is definitely a major feat too! Congratulations!!!

I heard you want to stop your yarn diet, Wollefaden?
Actually, I was planning to honor you on December 14, or rather at the end of December, for your two years on the yarn diet and crown you the Super Yarn Mountain Conqueror. But since you’ve stuck to the yarn diet for by far the longest time, you’ve earned the title of Super Yarn Mountain Conqueror anyway. I don’t think anyone will beat you. (Does anyone feel challenged?)
You’ve definitely earned plenty of extra bonus/karma points. It takes a lot of perseverance to keep it up for so long. Great job. I hope you have lots of fun buying yarn. You’ve definitely earned it.

How much yarn do you still have left?
Was it difficult for you at times?

Hi Josefa,
I’m really thrilled about the “Super Yarn Mountain Conqueror” title.

Actually, despite the long time, it wasn’t that difficult. I really had hoarded large quantities. Now I’ve started giving some of it away. That was two boxes of smaller leftover balls of yarn, which went to the kindergarten.
I still have plenty of yarn, though. My current stash isn’t enough for the moose I’ve finally started working on.
So I’ll only buy this yarn.

Dear Marion, congratulations! I think it’s really great how you’ve worked through your stash. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way for me—I always seem to be missing the right materials for new projects, so I end up buying a few more skeins even though I still have sooo much left in my stash! That makes me respect everyone who sticks to a stash-working challenge even more. I’ll give it another try in the new year…

Dear Marion,
what a wonderful achievement—my congratulations on becoming a “Super Yarn Stash Conqueror.”

I’ve admired many of your projects in the posts and the gallery; when such beautiful things are created, the pounds melt away much more easily, and dieting really becomes fun :-)
Now have fun with a little “yarn shopping.”

Marion, I’d also like to congratulate you on this amazing achievement! :)
That’s really hard to top. Absolutely fantastic!

I stuck with it for 10 months too and realized just how much yarn I’d knitted up. That’s a great sense of accomplishment. But then I started running out of certain colors or even whole skeins... well, and then I gave in. But that’s okay. A shopping spree is nice every once in a while, too. :)

So just enjoy shopping now! After such a long time, it’s a very special feeling.
