October Projects: Part 2.

Dear users, dear designers,
since the thread for the October projects has become very long, I’m opening Part 2. You can read Part 1 here.

There will be a separate thread for the award ceremony / final stretch. It will go online at the end of October.
Due to the holidays + weekend, the award ceremony will not take place until around November 5. Everything that is handmade by then can be included in the award ceremony.
--> So you still have plenty of time to catch up.
Have fun.

I’ve started making Christmas gifts… and today I stocked up on more yarn for them. I’m curious to see how big my forest will get with this....   I’m also in the final stages of decorating my felted cat cave—I have to have it finished by Sunday... it just needs a few decorative beads. I’ve been putting that off a bit; sewing on beads isn’t my favorite thing to do....

The table runner for my mom is also finished.

It just needs to be stretched and starched. But I’ll do that right before I give it to her.

The runner is lovely, Arni.

@Fun-Design
Your Christmas trees look great—the different shades of green are really beautiful.

Sanda, your table runner turned out great, too—I really like it.

I’m currently working on a Christmas wreath.

Sandra, your table runner turned out really pretty. It was definitely worth unpicking it!

Sandra, I think your table runner is really pretty too. Yes, it was definitely worth starting it over. Your mother will surely be delighted.

Fun-Design, I think your Christmas trees are great too.

After thinking it over for a long time, I finally decided today what my new projects will be. One of them will be a baby sleeping bag. The other will be a pair of leggings for my granddaughter for Christmas.

Since I have a longer car journey ahead of me on November 1, I need something that’s easy but still interesting. The sleeping bag is just right for that. Today I already knitted up a whole ball of yarn with different swatches so that I can calculate the size.

And in between, I’ll work on the granny squares. At the moment I have a larger one on the hook; I need it for the table.

Oh yes, and in November I’m also planning to make some small projects: some of my teddy bears need knitted trousers and sweaters. I can use up leftover yarn for that.

The only UFO I’ll probably take with me into November is the cuddly teddy bear. But there’s still time for that. Now it’s the small parts, and I don’t like making those quite as much.

Tomorrow I’ll take a photo of the granny squares that are finished.

Good morning.
Thank you very much for the compliments
My husband thinks the runner is awful and immediately said that he doesn't want anything that terrible.

I'm going to start on a runner for Christmas for us at the hairdresser's right away. Then he'll be presented with a fait accompli.

Crocheting runners is really addictive.

Sandra, that’s just how men are—don’t let it get to you. They see the world completely differently anyway, and usually not from a crocheter’s perspective. ;-)

The main thing is that you like it. Maybe Anton will catch a little of your enthusiasm and come to love this kind of thing later on, too.

So, I’ve finally finished my UFO, and the sweater is done! Now I just have to finish writing up the pattern for it.

An update on my October projects

My Christmas forest is growing....
Thanks, by the way, for the lovely comments on it.

A Fimo gift for a unicorn lover is finished; the mug just needs to be filled with a few treats.

I’ve also worked with concrete

Here are a few of my UFOs that actually got finished this month....

My crochet-felted cat cave is finished right on time... I’m giving it away today...

A little pouch for odds and ends....

I also finished a felt bag...

Wow, Claudia, you’ve been super busy! :)
Everything looks absolutely beautiful. I especially like the Fimo unicorn — it turned out really lovely. The gift is sure to be very well received.

I’ve only just seen here all the things you can make out of concrete. Amazing!

Here are my granny squares now — all made from leftover yarn. The big one will be continued. It’s going to be a doily or a placemat set to match the coasters.

Thanks...

Yeah, concrete really is a great material.

And I wasn’t actually all that productive this month, since most of the things were already mostly finished....

The unicorn turned out absolutely amazing. And if I were a cat, I’d love to have a den like that, too!

Ruth: The sweater turned out really chic.

Claudia: You’ve made so many chic things. I especially like the cat cave.

Monika: The granny squares are great. I like the color combination.

I’ve set the door wreath aside for now. I just realized that Anton doesn’t have a suitable winter/fall hat anymore. I’ll start on that now.

Once again, you’ve created some amazing pieces. The cat cave is great—I don’t have a cat either.
The granny squares are also very pretty; I really love the color.

I haven’t gotten much done this month. However, I did manage to finish one piece for Christmas.

Thanks, Sandra! Yes, I really like the color combination, too. I’ll be adding a few more granny squares here and there.

Hats are quick to knit, after all. I’m sure you’ll have them finished in no time.

I just knitted a new one for my granddaughter, too—the one I’ve already shown you. I’ll finish the pattern today as well.

Have a lovely, cozy crafting Sunday, everyone!

Monika

Thanks, Monika—I like it, too.
I followed Petra’s pattern. But I crocheted the wreath using the Tunisian crochet technique.

Have fun crafting today!

My goodness, you’ve all been so hard at work. I really love all your creations.
I wasn’t quite as productive this month—I only made a scarf, a pot holder, a dish towel, a few small pieces for the scrap blanket, and a sweater. Well, the sweater still needs to be sewn up, but I’ll do that tomorrow during the day when the light is better.
Last week, the Fimo I ordered arrived—I wanted to use it to decorate a few handle-less crochet hooks.
But that probably won’t happen until November.

Hey Mel, that’s quite a lot you’ve managed to get done there. Sweaters… finishing such large pieces definitely deserves a special title. ;-)

my last October project is finished.  A monster hat for Anton. Perfect for Halloween. :-))))

Surprisingly, even my dear husband likes it.

Since I’m at a training session this weekend, traveling tomorrow, and again on Monday, I’ll make sure to write down my projects for the awards ceremony today.

Josefa, maybe you could add the list above today…
Or can I copy it from last month?

I wish you all here a wonderful and creative day!

Best, Monika

Monika, that sweater came together surprisingly quickly—I was surprised myself! I wish you lots of joy on your travels!

Last night I crocheted another baby bootie keychain. That means my October list is also finished; tonight I’m going to a Halloween party, so I won’t get any crafting done.

Monika: Today is a holiday in some federal states. I don’t know where Josefs lives. But maybe she has the day off too.

That’s why it may be that this won’t work out. But copying from last month will probably work.

Have fun and have a nice trip

Thanks, Sandra. :) Yeah, I’ll probably go ahead and copy it—tonight.
I’ll be on the road first thing tomorrow morning and won’t have much time for it then.

The baby sleeping bag is already on the needles and looks great already. It’ll be finished in no time. And the baby who’ll feel right at home in there will be here soon enough. For now, we’re still “practicing”… ;-)

Thanks for the travel wishes. I’ll enjoy it.

Here’s my summary for the awards ceremony, since I won’t have time for it over the next few days:

UFO King/Queen in October
[x] I finished several UFOs in September and have truly earned the title of UFO King/Queen.
  • my husband’s vest
  • the warm slippers for me
Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to finish the little bear—that’ll have to wait until November.
Leftover Yarn Champion in October
[x ] In September, I used up a lot of colorful leftover yarn / emptied my basket of scraps, earning myself the title of Leftover Yarn Champion.
  • I crocheted the granny squares (coasters) from colorful leftover yarn.
  • The autumn leaf is also crocheted from leftover yarn.

Yarn Diet / Yarn Emperor/Empress / Inner Slacker Conqueror in October
[ x] I didn’t buy any yarn in September and earned the title of Yarn Emperor/Empress.
I’m going to keep this up.

New: Hardworking Christmas Elves
[x ] I worked on Christmas gifts in September.
  • I worked on the little bear for my granddaughter and have already finished most of it.

Unraveling Monster Conqueror in October
[ x] In September, I partially or completely unraveled a UFO / a project I had already started and then finished it completely after all / made something beautiful / new out of it. I am therefore an Unraveling Monster Conqueror.
  • I unraveled the hat I’d already knitted for my granddaughter and used some of the yarn to knit a new one.

Learned Something New in October
[ x] I learned something new in September, which makes me a winner. :- )
  • I learned how to crochet granny squares, even when they’re round on the inside.
  • While crocheting the leaf, I also learned how to read crochet charts.

All October Projects
Number of projects completed in September: 5
Number of patterns completed/uploaded in September (for authors only): 3
Details: You can write down anything else that comes to mind here.

I uploaded lots of photos of my projects.
And I was able to do a lot of gardening because it was still so warm.

Here are the photos proving I unraveled the hat:
