Sewing magazines

Hey, I was wondering if, in addition to forums, you guys also read magazines? If so, does anyone have any good recommendations?

I don’t read sewing magazines, but maybe one of the pros here does? Here on CP, there’s a lot of crochet, a bit of knitting, and not so much sewing, but every now and then there’s still someone who knows their way around sewing and sewing machines. So just write down what you want to know—I’m sure someone will be able to help.

But on a side note: Have you run out of things to read? Bored? No more books on hand?
You’ll definitely find plenty of sewing websites and blogs online that you can read until the newsstand with the magazines opens up again. ; )
Yeah, I know that’s not what your question is about—at least, I don’t think so. What kind of information are you currently missing that you might only be able to find in magazines?
Well, if you want to read some, I’d advise you to go to a bigger newsstand or magazine shop and just take a look at what they have
there. I mean, it doesn’t do you any good to know what Anna-Lisa from Buxtehude likes to read—it’s all about what you enjoy and what appeals to you, otherwise you’re just wasting your money. Just go check it out.
I think I remember seeing in the store that there are different styles—some more fashion-oriented and others more country-style, for home decor and such—but I’m really not that knowledgeable about that kind of thing.
But I’m pretty sure that sewing magazines have a clear structure and a table of contents, so you know what you’re getting, and they often include several sewing patterns, not just one. If you want to look for this info online, you might have to piece together what you need from several sources, and you won’t have it all neatly organized in one magazine. But the magazine has to suit your taste first, too—well, you know how it is.

thanks for your reply. Yeah, actually, I’m interested in everything for now—I don’t even know yet what’s out there... :-)
I’ll head to the biggest newsstand in town and check it out. If I find anything really interesting, I’ll be happy to let you know. I’ll read the magazines on my way to work, when I’m on the subway and stuff.
