Help: Too many stitches!

Hi there! I haven’t been knitting for very long, and right now I’m having a problem where, because of some knitting mistakes, I have too many stitches compared to how many I cast on. It keeps getting wider, even though I haven’t actually increased any stitches. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice this until it was too late :(
Does that mean I have to unravel all my work?!

Actually, yes.
Of course, if the pattern allows it, you can knit some stitches together, but then the piece will be crooked. Or you can adjust it when you sew it together.
I’d recommend frogging it—you’ll be annoyed every time, so it’s better to frog it right from the beginning.

Hi Jessy 8, sometimes the only thing that really helps is to rip it out. You know how it is with crochet—sometimes it just gets wider or narrower—but with knitting, I think you made a mistake with the “U”s in the pattern. 

Okay, thanks to both of you! I’ll make sure to check it beforehand from now on so I don’t have to rip it out again at the end.
 

Or you could thread a lifeline—a colorful thread—every 3–4 rows; that’ll make it easier to rip it out.
