In this issue, I’m crocheting Pattern 5 (maybe some of you have this issue). The back and front are finished. Now I’m having trouble understanding the increases for the armhole slant.
The pattern starts with 1 sc, 3 double treble crochet in 1 st, (each separated by 2 ch), 1 sc, 3 double treble crochet in 1 st, etc., and ends with 1 sc.
Row 2: 7 ch (for the 1st double treble crochet), then 1 sc, 3 dc again, 1 sc, etc., and ends with 2 double treble crochet.
Now, for the armhole shaping, increase a total of 2 pattern repeats on both sides in the next 24 rows according to the pattern.
My problem: which sts should I increase, and most importantly, how do I crochet when turning the work?
Maybe I’m just missing something, but I can’t seem to figure it out (I’m already desperate).
I’d be grateful for any help.
Hi Gabi, this is hard to explain if you don’t have the issue—maybe someone else will chime in. I’d say, since it sounds like you have a crochet chart for the pattern, you need to crochet the beginning stitches, which always stay the same, and then distribute the 2 repeat increases across the work. So, to turn the work, do it the same way as before the armholes: on one side with the stitches before the repeat and on the other side with the stitches after the repeat. If no one else can help, just send me an email with the page from the magazine attached.
Hi Yvonne, thanks for the quick reply. I sent you the crochet chart by email.
In general, the crochet charts aren’t really the problem, but nowhere is there any indication or explanation (the crochet symbols in the right places) of how and what stitches you need to crochet once increases or decreases are required. The same applies when you then crochet the wrong side row.
Kind regards
Gabi
@Gabi,
That’s kind of unfair when you go out of your way to buy a crochet magazine at the store and then get left on your own with questions about it, since apparently there is no support for the magazine.
Sunny greetings
Sidney
Hi Sidney, I think by support you meant a service hotline, sorry :-). I already tried that too, but unfortunately I haven't gotten any help yet.
Best regards
Gabi
@Gabi, welcome to our forum and to the platform.
Sidney meant support = customer service or advice for problems with a crochet pattern.
What do you mean by “rapport”?
Please don’t upload excerpts from a crochet magazine here - that could possibly cause a copyright issue, since Diana certainly wouldn’t like that.
I wish you every success with your pattern and hope you enjoy your time here on Crazypatterns. By the way, if you have problems with a pattern here on Crazypatterns, you can ask the provider (m/f) directly - that’s part of the service here.
Hello dear CrazyPatterns team,
I just realized my misunderstanding as well.
By “pattern repeat,” I mean the crochet chart for the design.
Thank you for the information regarding uploading.
Best regards
Gabi
Hi, unfortunately I can’t help you with that either, but that’s the downside of crochet magazines and books... ...you don’t have the option to ask questions (many patterns are often incomprehensible or, for beginners, a complete mystery).
Sometimes the magazines list the authors or designers; maybe you’ll be lucky enough to find the person who created the pattern listed in the issue and be able to track them down via Google.
