Border on jacket curls inward

Hello dear "handicraft goddesses" ;-)

I'm knitting a traditional jacket for my son-in-law (yes, we're at home in Munich!) and it's almost finished now—but unfortunately the edge (finished with a crochet border) keeps curling inward on one side. What can I do?

I've taken pictures to help you see it.

Does anyone know what I can do?

Hi Susanne,
the jacket is knitted, and the trim is crocheted. Since crochet stitches are always wider than knitted stitches, when “crocheting around the edge,” it’s a good idea to skip one stitch every 3–4 stitches.
Personally, though, with such a beautiful piece, I’d first crochet one row in a natural shade and only then add the contrasting color. That always looks neater and better. But that’s just a tip.

yes, that’s a good tip! I skipped a single crochet stitch every 3rd to 4th row. That’s not the reason.
But the tip to first crochet a row in the jacket’s color is definitely worth considering. It’s just so strange that it’s only happening on this one side of the jacket!

Last night I pressed the edge between damp cloths—it looked smooth and great—but as soon as the knitting was dry and I removed the cloths, it twisted again.

Thanks for trying to help (I’d love to be done and don’t want to fiddle with the edge again….) (Maybe tomorrow) :-)
