Question about the pattern from Kleine Diana 05/2015

Hi everyone,

Has anyone here crocheted the backpack from Kleine Diana using the woven pattern and can help me out? Mine looks completely different from the picture because my crochet work has split into two overlapping flaps. Maybe someone here is familiar with the magazine—that would be the easiest solution.

The woven pattern goes something like this:
Row 1, Color 1: *(3 dc, 3 ch)
Row 2, Color 2: *(3 ch, 3 dc)
Row 3, Color 3: *(3 dc, 3 ch)
Row 4, Color 4: * (3 ch, 3 dc)

The double crochets are “deep” double crochets that are supposed to be worked into the double crochet two rows below. So, Color 1 in 3, and so on. But as I said, I now have two parallel panels on top of each other. Could that be right??

Hi... I don’t have the magazine. But if anyone here can help, photos of your work would be helpful

Here’s the solution, in case anyone else runs into this problem at some point: you have to crochet around the ch of the previous row and then insert the hook into the dc two rows below. This will create the desired checkered pattern.
