Lining a Crocheted Bag

Hi,
I just finished my first crocheted bag—a tote with a long strap. Has anyone ever lined a bag like this with fabric? What’s the best way to go about it? (If anyone wants to see what the bag looks like, you can find it online under “INGAS HÄKELBEUTEL.” I just used a different granny square pattern.)
Thank you very much and best regards
Petra

Hello Peterle
I’ve never done that before, lining my crochet bags with fabric or giving them an inner lining so smaller things don’t slip through and so it might even look chic and elegant. It might be quite nice with a satin lining or something like that.
So I was hoping that maybe one of the pros here would give you a tip.
But I thought it wouldn’t be nice if you didn’t get any reply here at all.
So I looked up a link to a tutorial for you.

For that link, you have to enter an email address and then you get the tutorial. Unfortunately, I don’t know the site at all, so I can’t say whether it’s any good.
Here are a few more tips without registering and all that

I hope the pros here will still say something. If you don’t know anything about it, just browsing the internet isn’t exactly the best thing.
A tip directly from a pro would really be helpful.
I also checked YouTube to see if I could find a tutorial for a crochet bag with a lining,
but somehow there only seem to be sewn bags without any crochet
or maybe I’m just too dumb to watch videos ; )

Hi.... Depending on the shape and size, you can, for example, use a fabric bag like the ones you can buy at grocery stores like Edeka and sew it in. Start by turning the bag and the crochet bag inside out, then begin at the corners. Personally, I sew by hand. I can’t say what the best way to do it on a machine is.

Alternatively, you can use a T-shirt. Cut it to the appropriate size and then sew around the edges to create a hem.

Thank you, everyone,
I’m glad you’ve given this some thought. I’d already bought some suitable fabric.
Now I just have to see how to “insert” it. Probably by hand. I’m not very good with a sewing machine either! ;o)
Best regards,
Petra

Well, I think the best way is to start at the bottom corners, then the bottom edge, then turn it right side out again and do the top corners first, followed by the sides.
