Dear users, dear authors,
Christmas is over, and now the focus is shifting to Easter, Valentine’s Day, and spring decorations and clothing. So here’s my question: What do you do with your Christmas decorations?
Let me know.
We have a shelf in the basement. Everything is neatly stowed away there in boxes and their original packaging.
I took down all the Christmas decorations the day before yesterday. The New Year’s cleaning is also done—now spring can come anytime :0)
Until the attic is finished (so far there are just beams up there), everything is going into a box in the garage.
The spring decorations have been out for a while now—I actually like them better right now ;-)
I’ll be putting away my Christmas decorations on Saturday, and I’ll take care of the
New Year’s cleaning at the same time.
I’ll store a lot of the items in their original boxes in the attic, and the smaller
pieces will be packed into a box and also stowed away in the attic.
I’ll probably put my year-round decorations back up and then, when the time comes, add the
spring and Easter decorations here and there. It’s still too early for that, though, and the weather’s
too dreary. I just don’t feel like spring yet.
My husband jokingly suggested yesterday that we coat the Christmas tree with clear varnish and just leave it up.
But I think we’ll take it down this weekend after all, pack all the decorations back into the boxes, and store them in the attic. It’s a shame, because it’s still so beautifully green, and this year it’s hardly losing any needles.
So we’ll be decoration-free until February. And then, little by little, the signs of spring will start to appear—like door wreaths, window decorations, and finally the Easter tree.
I especially love the fuse-bead figures the kids hang up now, before the leaves and blossoms appear on the fruit trees. They make the whole garden cheerful and colorful.
I always put my Christmas decorations away after January 6 and store them in boxes in the basement. What stays up are the winter decorations that aren’t Christmas-themed, like snowflakes, snowmen, etc. And my “St. Nicholas-Easter Bunny” stays nearby too, because I’ll need it again for Easter ;-))
Everything’s been in the attic since the 6th. Well, almost everything. Like every year, I forgot the St. Nicholas figure outside the front door. Like every year, he ends up on the first floor on the cat litter box until I take pity on him... ;-)
At our house, we’ll be packing everything neatly back into boxes this weekend—except for the poinsettia with its pretty cover. That one will stay out as long as it looks nice. It often happens that my poinsettia keeps blooming well into the summer.
The boxes with the Christmas decorations were actually supposed to be put away in the attic, and the rest in the closet (also in the attic), but with this awful weather (nonstop rain!!!), it’s just too unpleasant up there… Later, though, I want to reorganize the whole closet with Christmas and Easter items so I know again where everything is!
