Footbag/Hacky Sack Filling

Hi,
I’d like to crochet some small hacky sacks as party favors for the kids at my son’s birthday party. But I’m not really sure what the best filling would be—Google hasn’t given me any satisfactory answers so far—so here’s my question for you: Can you recommend a filling material? It shouldn’t be too light, but also not too heavy or hard, and of course, it can’t be too fine, so it doesn’t fall out between the stitches...
I’d appreciate any tips :)

how about decorative sand? It comes in different grain sizes.

I crochet a lot of decorative sitters whose bellies are filled
with weight. I always use an organza bag and fill it with fine
decorative sand—that way, I make sure nothing falls out between
the stitches.
Maybe that could be an option for you, too.

you're welcome.

I leave the little bags empty at first and then, depending on the size of the opening
, use a funnel to fill them with sand—it works really well.

I used regular rice for my snowmen. Pudding rice works too. Instead of an organza bag, an old nylon sock would also work.
